THE GRIFF
I am in the market for a 12g shotgun for mainly shooting pigeons annd crows. I will mainly be shooting from a hide decoying and walking around the farm shooting crows/pigeons coming in to trees near the buildings, I have a silenced 20g for near the buildings. What gun would you recomend for shooting from a hide, semi auto, o/u, sxs (it would also be ideal if this gun would shoot 3 inch mags as well for the odd occasion i will possibly be shooting ducks/geese)? For those of you that do shoot from a hide, what gun do you use and what inch barrel do you find to be best. Thanks
soreshoulder
semi, less recoil and easier to load in a hide situation - also makes for less movement if more pigeons are on the way. They are generally cheaper if you go with remington, beretta or any of the hatstand or webley and scott. I lve shooting mine in the summer in the hide and its all i use - bear in mind i have a O/U and a SXS

Cosd
I shot for 2 years using an o/u and have recently switched to a semi and I prefer the semi much more than the o/u. It points well, has less recoil and is so much easier to load in the hide.

soreshoulder
Semiauto for shooting in a hide with 28" barrel and open choke. i use a 26" inch skeet barrel with 1/2 choke, very quick and pointable
sitsinhedges
I have a 12gBeretta AL391 Light which is a 6 1/2lb version of the standard Urika2. Light enough to carry all day and brilliant for hide work too. Despite being a featherweight it is easy on the shoulder as a gas auto, and is about the same recoil as an O/U that weighs a pound more
retromlc
I'd agree with all the above I've gravitated towards the semi for all the above reasons,I have a 28" barrel version but would prefer a shorter barrelled one as my 28" semi is about as long as a 32" O/U,i would say they are lighter to carry but you can't break them like a O/U or S/S, which to me can be a bit of a pain when walking about. Thanks I agree with everyone else on a semi is best fore hide work and i use mine for rough shooting and wildfowl, personally i prefer a 30" barrel and currently shoot a maxus
