Thin recoil pads

I just bought a Miroku MK70, having been shooting a Lanber.

I am happy with the fit, but having been used to a rubber butt pad on the Lanber, my shoulder is a little sore from the hard plastic butt of the Miroku.

Is there a fairly thin but more forgiving pad I can replace the plastic one with, or should I just not be a wuss and get used to it?

:P My wifes 5" 3 and 9 stone she uses the exact same gun just a case of getting used to it

There is no specific pad for a curved butt. You will have to get it made flat, if you fit a butt pad.

The slip on type might well be the answer. You can tape a piece of cardbord or similar to the butt, to flatten it and slide the cover on. I have one on a Winchester 23 and it works fine.

I'll have to have a look tonight - It might be that it is flat already, it looks it in the pic on the Miroku website

If you wear a shooting vest, why not buy a recoil pad to slip into the shoulder pocket? Doesn't matter what gun you shoot then. I bought a Browning reactor thin gel pad for about a tenner off the 'bay = only about 4mm thick and made all the difference, mind you I don't really suffer with recoil too much, but I did notice after 200+ cartridges no aches at all.

Fitted the Isis pad this morning.

Quite easy to fit (I used a belt sander).

Conforms to the slightly concave stock perfectly.

I would recommend to any Miroku or Browning owners that want a pad, but don't want to alter their stock (the screw holes were also in the same place...)

Apologies for resurrecting an old thread but is the isis pad still a good option for adding some recoil protection yourself or has something else come to market since, i too have a mk70 and whilst i dont have any issues with the recoil in the shoulder i am finding it is playing my back up especially when shooting by myself due to getting through a lot more shots in a shorter time frame?

Lighter carts?

Cheers and yep I was going to move down to 24s once ive got rid of the current lot, was currently using either 28 fibre gamebores or hulls 27 plastics depending on where i was shooting both of which seem to kick pretty hard. i tried some hull compx 28s interestingly they seemed to kick less than the 27s. will be picking up some 24s for my next outing though.

You wont find a lighter recoiling cartridge than the Hull Comp X range, try a box of each in 21g/24g/28g and see which you prefer

Quite cheap as well....

I put a Kickeeze pad on my Browning, you can get quite a thin one, but it did need the stock shortening, and therefore was flat making it an easy fit ( I put mine into the gunsmiths to do)
