tinytim38
buy a new one, I am convinced they have a timer built in to slow them down, so after about 4 years you cant stand any more and are forced to buy a new one IMHO

Slug
Start>all programs>accessories>command prompt> c:/ format> press enter I find this works quite well when a comp has given me the hump.. JOKE..Don't do that dude it will wipe your hard drive Seriously most modern comps have a partitioned hard drive and will have a factory reset facility, to enable either a full ( No data saved ) or a partial ( files saved ) if you don't have the manual google the model with factory reset in the search engine that should do it

berties
shouldnt my norton take care of that?? Norton will remove any computer nastys but from time to time there is damage done to the drives,it depends on your browsing habits how or if this ever happens, back up c drive on a external hard drive make sure you have all the driver disks for printers etc at hand, look on line at a system reset for your machine and go for it ,I have had it talked through with me on line, and the machine will be restored to factory settings, put back in all your programs like word norton etc and off you go a pain in the rear I know but it has always done the trick for me,sounds like you have a new machine so the ram should be ok Good luck
codling99
try downloading malwarebytes from cnet.download.com. run that to check for malware, norton is total rubbish to and will slow a pc down on its own.

welsh1
Norton is notorious for slowing computers down because it is very invasive and big. Personally i would get rid of it and install something like avast, which is free and just as good. And use malwarebytes and cc cleaner regularly, again all free.
