deadeye ive
Went out claying yesterday and out of a party of Six ,5 of the guns played up . I've had my MK 70 for over 2 years now and 'it's the first time I've had any problems................The first shot fired OK but on the odd occasion the second would not fire and it felt like the safety had intervened .Not only that 4 other chaps experienced the same thing with their guns ......... Only the Beretta 687 performed trouble free this day . Is anybody else experiencing reliability problems due to the cold conditions. dunganick
was clay shooting a few weeks ago, very cold, sub zero. guns were breaking left right and centre. no real order to it. but 2 brownings, 2 berreta's, one old franci, and a few others had the odd misfire. my dads mk70 didnt miss a beat, neither did my lanber sporter. cant explain it. but i cant blame the guns for breaking, it was bloody freezing Edited January 4, 2006 by dunganick
Dunkield
Only the Beretta 687 performed trouble free this day . Glad I have got one of those then Last time I went out the action was freezing when I touched it without gloves on, I guess any oil or grease is going to congeal under those conditions. I tend not to use too much oil on mine as it used to ooze out when it got hot. Maybe Beretta's are just good guns after all they are far less complex than most shotguns that is for sure.... Stuart A chap at the ground reckoned sometimes the wood contracting around a to snug a fit firing mechanism is probably the problem . It was just odd that so many different types of SG were affected that day Could he have a point I wonder? Ive

Ive Could be Ive, I used to have trouble getting the fore end off by Beretta when it got wet, so I used to dry it (slowly) near a fire and then it was OK. As they are mass produced the manufacturers normaly leave quite a gap to accomodate the actions. If wood to metal contact is the problem then the woodword would be black on the inside where there has been contact?

Hope you only had two shells in. Is illegal to use a shotgun that can hold more than two shells on game It's only illegal if it has a magazine that can hold more than 2 cartridges ie. a Fac shotgun. It is still frowned upon in many circles to use any semi auto or pump action on game though.
Axe
Yep, i've just been reading up on this. The original law stated a smoothbore gun holding no more than two cartridges. But this was amended in 1985 to include semi-auto or pump action guns with a magazine that holds no more than two cartridges.

bobt
but why not a FAC semi? it doesnt make sense (its a law I know its not meant to) but why can you not just have 2 in a 5 shot?
