This has really spoil;t my day i know it's not the dogs fault. but the ******* owner !!
Cranfield
I would suggest you inform the Landowner of the incident as soon as possible. The dog should have been on a lead and if there is livestock or deer in the area, he might want to tell the lady that its a condition of her livery that the dogs is on a lead, or it stays at home. kent
Seen that one before. She could be charged under the hunting with dogs act, better used as a threat if she don't comply with requests. Dog gets destoyed criminal record to owner and big fine, ask her how she feels about it. Dogs hunting deer is natural and unless in total control of owner running dogs will almost all give it a go
FireDrake
Going to inform farmer about the incident, she was leaving when we got back from yesterday's competition didn't have the dog with her, think she was too embarassed to bring it over.I have noticed lately it has started to "round up" her horses in the field, and she sorta let's it get on with it, first time i see it in with our horse's it's getting a boot up it's backend. The thing is there is pigs and hens just down the lane and i for one if it was my dog would be worried it would go after them, but this imbicile just does not seem to worry, wouldn,t care she actually works for a local college as an instructor in animal care! al4x
sadly its an accident and it does happen, its very hard to steady the average family pooch to deer and instinct does kick in. I had trouble stopping mine the other day on a young fallow she did stop but the doe and youngster did exit the hedge 6ft from her and you could see she was very tempted. Be careful exactly how you word it to the landowner as obviously she is paying to be there and you never know what links she has to them, I'd guess the average owner would be as upset as you at the end result

Remember it is a good threat remember also if she ends up charged with it her defence will be intention, if it has done it previously that gonna be a sticky wicket for her. Like i say the threat might be all it needs. Though realy it's down to what the landowner thinks of it at the end of the day
dorianbuilders
I'm sometimes disappointed with the comments on here! Yes her dog shouldn't have been chasing deer but to even think about reporting her under the hunting act just feeds the LAG/RSPCA etc, I for one don't support that act as a former lurcher and terrier owner and hunt follower and think that the shooting and hunting fraternities should be supporting each other as opposed to feeding the opposition! docholiday
It may have been an accident but it was preventable, to many dog owners don't take the responsibility that comes with owning a dog, It is a nightmare in the New Forest where dogs are a real problem with the deer. I think she needs to be made aware at the very least, cant believe that people are prepared to say its just an accident don't bother about it doc
rickyspringer
why get authorities involved, landowner and so on... have a word in her ear yourself, she will feel bad enough and if you give her a good enough warning the issue will be resolved.
