JR1960
Having lost the shoot i've had for the past 20 years last year when the old boy had to sell up, i've pretty much exhausted the local yellow pages for door knocking and most of the farmhouses round here aren't occupied by farmers, they seem to live in little bungalows tucked away on the farm, anyone got any other ways of finding farmers addresses? If i don't get some permission before next year when my SGC & FAC are up for renewal i'm ********!
owdnorthener
Hi Mate, You could try Google for farmers local to you .... I tried and it came up with quite a few names and addresses for me to try and contact. Good luck Edited September 2, 2010 by owdnorthener
scotttomo
I'd try just driving around your local 'countryside'. Spotting farm or fresh produce signs is a dead give away and most include phone numbers. If not then find a farm and possibly wander on to find someone or the farmhouse? Good luck and hope you find some land soon
starlight32
its this simple make a batch , pick six at random and submit to proof for pressure testing for a small fee sorted Having lost the shoot i've had for the past 20 years last year when the old boy had to sell up, i've pretty much exhausted the local yellow pages for door knocking and most of the farmhouses round here aren't occupied by farmers, they seem to live in little bungalows tucked away on the farm, anyone got any other ways of finding farmers addresses? You wont be mate truly ******** mate, you will be ok with your shotgun, and to be doubly sure with your FAC join a rifle club now so if you do have no luck sorting some land out in the short term you at least have good reason to keep!! Yeah, i did really mean for my FAC, trouble with rifle clubs is a] there aren't many round here b] because of work i'm not able to attend enough days, especially wintertime, as i have to work a lot of weekends and c] I don't think clubs are for me, the one i used to belong to was run by old fogeys who were so up themselves i really would rather give up my licence. I'm nearly 50 and been shooting for over 40 years and really don't want to be spoken to like a 5 year old. I guess now i'll get the benefit of people's thoughts as to why its my attitude that stops me getting any new permission, so be it. OWDNORTHENER - cheers mate hadn't thought of Google, strange as its usually my first port of call Edited September 5, 2010 by JR1960
apache
Do you know of any local shooters who would let you use their permission as a paperwork exercise? Just while you get things sorted?
JR1960
No not anyone i'd feel comfortable asking, i was born and bred here but not lived here for 30 years. The shoot i had was 40 miles away, but i didn't mind that as i liked the old guy who owned it and knew the land like the back of my hand. I did try a few old mates/landowners when i moved back but no luck so far. Just have to keep trying, something will turn up, i've found that in the past i've usually got permissions when i least expect it. No you're not ********, on renewal of an FAC they give you an open ticket, all that rubbish about it having to be attatched to a piece of land is just that. You can have no permission and still book shooting all over the country. Same with the SGC, you can just have one because you want one
JR1960
I've had an open ticket for years but i was always under the impression you HAD to have permission or club membership to get renewal. Yes/no?

Yes for a Deer rifle but never knew you could just book days vermin shooting with a 22 rimfire unless you meant give up the rimfire and keep his fac based on using it for paid stalking. Although I could well be wrong. You need to provide a good reason for wanting/having a fac rifle and I cant see booking shooting being accepted for a 22 rimfire

Yes/no? Absolutely yes. You need a parcel of land to attach the FAC to. Even with an open certificate. How would you have good reason for possession otherwise? Yes - and they won't be conditioned for vermin. The OP has in his signature nothing more powerful than a couple of .22 RFs

The Essex Hunter
Why dont you check out when the farm sales and have a nose around, possably knock up a card with your details, get chatting around the tea bar. It might give you a lead. Just dont wave your arms abt, as you will buy a bailer or worse a broken one! Hope that might help TEH
