al4x
tick hook, or coat it with the spray on frontline, or cover in vaseline. You don't want to pull it out without a tick hook as you'll leave parts in the dog that can cause problems

steveyb
I use a dab of nail varnish remover applied to the tic using a cotton bud. It kills them and they drop off.
AlistairB
Heat up a pair of tweezers, hold the tics body with them (keeping the dog still of course), the jaws will open and hey presto, it's off.

vulpicide
Re bada when I say Vital INFO I mean it I am currently waiting for a pacemaker and the consultant has asked me if i've been bitten by a tic as I have a seriously damaged heart but NO sign of heart disease so he thinks it may have been damaged by a virus like the one that causes lymes disease.Too late for some of us but check the bada website I bet most of us have had a tick on the dog at some point you get tick pullers on the bada.org site. When you see the bada stand at any of the game fairs pop in its a charity great advice possiblly life saving for you and your dog
