The winchester she quoted on were the 55 grain soft point - the only ones they had in stock by the way

I zeroed using a box I bought ftom Avalon Guns for £19

The sako I used were 50 grain ballistic tipped- and had little or no difference at the POI @ 100 yards

Les

Sportsman did stock a cheap version of 223 ammo- mady by hornady but it was 75 grain @ £15 a box- a tad too heavy for me

Thanks for that! I've seen the 50 grain ballistic tips for sale! Are they any good?

Just been out to Sportsman again this morning ( Took Edd Oakley for a full english breakfast as we'd been on the bunnies with th HMR's)

I asked about Prvi in 223 and they had none in stock they will have some by the weekend @ £11 a box ( £55 per 100) so worth a try I think

I also asked the manageress to confirm the Price on Winchesters - she confirmed to Edd £35 a box - she said it with a straight face too lol

we zeroed the new Howa using 55 grain Winchesters and 50 Grain Sako's 1/2 high at 100 yards- that'll do for me

Thanks for the assistance Ed

Les ;)

Hi, when they said the weekend, I bet they didn't say which one.

Cheers

I said to the chap there "Ive just paid £19 a box less than an hour ago"- he claims that the military are using all the 223 that Winchester ( or any other maker produce) and there is now a shortage of 223 ammo in this country- I laughed in his face and left

That excuse (or variations on it) is the biggest load of rubbish but it is being used more and more. The US have massive ammo factories making ammo for the military. In the UK we have Radway Green. And yet plonkers in shops tell this implausable LIE that this ammo or that ammo is either not in stock or has gone up in price because of the war in Iraq and Afganistan.

The truth is the dealers and the importers are strapped for cash and not ordering enough. Demand for PPU has gone through the roof for obvious reasons.

The Sako ones I used to zero seem pretty acurate, judging by the target lol
