twitchynik
Popped down to A1 after a visit to the Herts Game Show and it just started to rain so we thought we'd give the OT setup a go and keep dry. How much fun is it?! Hardly hit much (best was 8ex25) but it was very enjoyable and made a change from the sporting layouts. Anyone shoot OT at A1? Shall def be shooting that again and gives a good excuse for another gun...!
PhilR
Yes I do. I'll probably be there on Thursday all being well.
JonD
I tried it a couple of times just after I started shooting and managed 4 with full use lol! I had actually planned to have a go today but it didn't happen, at least i had a 3\4 choke and some 7.5's as opposed to last time with skeet and 9's lol. Glad you had fun Jon. Gareth0689
Never shot it at A1 but it is my discipline. You will find it difficult with a sporter, but put 3/4 in the bottom barrel and full or extra full in the top. As you have shot it more and get a bit quicker you can use more open chokes, but most shooters stick with 3/4 and full. If you want even more fun, try ZZ! I shot this for the first time yesterday and it is great fun! can get pretty expensive though at £1 a target.
fluke2
And on OT point the gun at the leading edge of the traphouse and keep your eyes on the sky in front, look at the set up, each station has three traps so point the gun at the middle section of your station and keep your eyes on the sky in front to catch the clay quicker, its the way I was taught and can normally 20+x25 Have a look here http://www.shootr.co.uk/trapcoach/disciplines.html

Had just put in the 1/4 and 1/2 chokes in (doh!) but still found it highly enjoyable. A couple of OT lads were there and gave us a few tips like where to line and up and point. They have ZZ as well but will save that 'til I'm a bit better shot..!

Gareth where did you shoot ZZ? fancy having a go at that my self for a laugh but is it really £1 a shot or£1 per clay you break?
Catamong
The A1 SG have a Christmas Helice shoot on a Saturday in mid December, look on the CPSA website under fixtures for more info. It's great fun but from memory costs about £50 to enter (for 20 birds), but they do payout some nice prizes. I think you can get a "Birds Only" entry at a reduced rate. The rules have recently changed, you're now restricted to a 28 gram load which makes it a tad more tricky. You need to get on the bird very quickly and get 2 shots off as soon as you can, otherwise it's long gone if you hesitate. It's great fun, just don't tell the missus how much it's cost you..!! Cat. SidneyG
OT and UT are the dogs danglies.... will drive you round the twist when its going badly, but when it all comes together and hitting them becomes kinda automatic its an awesome feeling. (alas I dont get that feeling often enough!!!)

I shot it at SW2000. Mike just had the one trap set up for people to try. It is £1 for every target you call. It is Completely different to anything I've shot though!
