malkiserow
Are the Harris bipod copies worth having? There seem to be many around but do they let your shooting down? Cheers
Philmypower
The harris bipod really is the best and the coppies arent that much cheaper, i got myself a cheap one a while back and its c**p so went out and got another harris. just pay a little extra and get a Harris and it will last you years. Ive had mine for 7 now and still in mint condition
the running man
I've 3 harris copies, the leg nut came off on 2 of them,so replaced with a nylock nut,and has been fine, one is 8 year old. All three are ebay chinese copys. Guess I just had a good batch.
malkiserow
Any other experiences with bipods?
Dekers
A lot will come down to what you expect from a bipod, how much you use it and how well you look after it! Harris work and last, but cheaper units may be perfectly acceptable for many!
Colster
I had a Harris and a Nikko Harris Clone, the Nikko one felt flimsy by comparison and had a tendency to fold up too easily (e.g. If you pulled the rifle towards you while you were laying up). Changed it for a proper Harris in the end.

Dougy
I got a "globalrifle" stumpy one at the midland game fair £60,normally £75ish, its far better that the rockmount and has an adjustable tilt lever so it can be stiffened as required by the easy turn of a lever, i think the same size tilt harris are about £85. It is just as sturdy and well made
Westcountryman
I've got a Sparten. Seems well made to me, it was £50 second hand but un-used. I can't see it falling apart any time soon.
Beardo
i've got a couple of Harris, a couple of cheapies (wouldn't buy again), and my favourite of the bunch is the newish Edgar Brothers one, very well made and has rubber covers over the springs to keep them quiet. peek-at
Have you looked at the one on Dealextreme - SKU 26217 I have just fitted one to mine and for me it is ideal as it has a quick release. it feels sturdy & well made although I do think that the paint finish will wear in time cheers Edited October 9, 2010 by peek-at
Norrie
i've got a couple of Harris, a couple of cheapies (wouldn't buy again), and my favourite of the bunch is the newish Edgar Brothers one, very well made and has rubber covers over the springs to keep them quiet. I've not got any Harris bipods , got four others in total...but I do have an Edgar Bros one,swivel/tilt... and love it, as NB says, its got rubber covers on the springs....got it off THAT site for £40 2nd hand...fantastic value... I've also got a cheapy Chinese one, that I cannot fault, it just wont break...it cost £22 ....and the third is a Harris copy, very well built and swivel/tilt etc...bought here on PW, another great bargain...think it was about £20....lastly,.. got a Logun bipod, bit too heavy, but well built.. £15 off here....and not used much...mainly due to the weight..
