Salop Matt
A friend of mine has got a HMR slot on his ticket. He is concerned that if he fills it but doesnt use it much he may lose the slot and have to sell the rifle and lose the money on the sale of the rifle. But I have never seen a minimum usage policy so dont think he has anything to worry about ! Or does anyone know of anything different that can be proved ? Cheers
al4x
they do like to see you use ammo but never heard of anyone having to sell one if they still had the land to shoot it on. I don't put a huge number of rounds through mine as we're on top of the bunnies so I just make sure I use a couple of hundred rounds every once in a while to justify things
barrelsniffer
I have a mate who has 243 for deer and uses it once twice a yr .. as for me and ammo...i buy 22 rimmy ammo..and 17hmr ammo .. as for 22 hornet ..17rem and 223 i reload...but must be 2 yrs since i last bought ammo as i bought it in bulk the max im allowed to purchase/hold...but i do work away also so dont get to shoot as much as id like...and ive never been or asked why i havent been using. He should be fine...its when you dont have a use for the rifle ie reason and no land then they can take it away. Mick
Raja Clavata
Not sure your mate is worrying about the right thing - I'd be more worried they'd take away a slot I didn't fill!
garyb
My ticket has zero ammo on it bar some .22lr, despite shooting between 2-300 rounds of fullbore this year. This is because I reload. My FEO is happy, and the ticket gets reprinted after each variation anyway.

njc110381
Perhaps if the rifle was never used it could be an issue. 50 rounds per year should keep things sweet though and you could always give him the money to buy a box for you now and again if he's that worried! Dekers
Not sure your mate is worrying about the right thing - I'd be more worried they'd take away a slot I didn't fill! Exactly My region WILL take away the slot if it not used...
al4x
yup its not showing a requirement to have the slot if you don't need to get a gun so they are entirely justified to remove it
the running man
Yes,I think at clubs u get people that have to shoot once a year to justify their possession,so they do,u see them once a year so they can keep their fac. If ure shooting on land,u need not prove such,u could go out on ure permission 50 times a year or never, which. Is why derek bird had guns and was not checked up on. People that have guns but don't use them begs the question why do u have them?

Agree with you there mate.there should be a system where the FEO can and has to check with in a certain time limit that the holder is using what firearm at a club or on what land he has permission on...like you say if you dont use it it should be taken away and NOT kept as for whatever reason ?? which no doubt some will be saying/doing Mick

(i appreciate some poeple move house have illness, have work probs, have kids, and this all will temparaily affect shooting regularity, but only for a bit.) on the other side of the spectrum, rough or outside shooters have no checks,ie derek bird went unchecked, now i know some of us keep a small shooting diary, and im sure some are highly organised getting the land owner to put his moniker on the diary, but most dont. i just go out regularly. i dont really see how people can be checked up on that they are using the firearms they have licences for.a few more flo visits? a buddie buddie system? i dunno.
