pegasus bridge
does anyone how much it would cost to get a swb 4x4 painted ?, nothing special - just a drab olive green. ive seen a couple of white swb 4x4's but really not happy with the colours and want to get an idea of cost to factor it in. also - anyone have an idea what effect this would have on residuals? stokie
If you only want something like a drap olive , get yourself some Nato paint and put it on yourself with a 4 inch sponge roller . It will only take a couple of coats , It dries real quick and you could so the whole motor in about an hour . 5 litres of paint will cost you approx £40. HW682
If you go for this option, I'm sure you know Anchor Surplus, for the paint, aren't far from you mate Edited November 17, 2010 by HW682
COACH
Yeah, as an ex painter and decorator I can definitely say a 4 inch sponge door roller will do the job a treat along with a one inch quality brush to get into the difficult bits. You will need a good primer though put on first as the paint won`t stick to well to the shiny paint so wash off any polish with strong detergent. If possible rub down with wet and dry first to rough up the paint. Edited November 17, 2010 by COACH
Billy.
I asked a similar question http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=56786&st=0&p=501116&fromsearch=1entry501116
pegasus bridge
hmm - i am tempted to have a go at it - how easy is it to get a neat finish around the window seals ? would i need a primer on it if i cleaned then sanded (lightly just to get a grip) the paintwork? Lez325
Use paper masking tape to cover the seals and you'll get a nice straight finish Les

HDAV
dont forget if it isnt green to start with you need to inform DVLA and get V5 reissued (for road reg motors) if you have viynl wrap put on you dont need to inform DVLA.... oldspot
Scotchbrite pads are the best thing for keying new paint to existing and if you carefully paint grease onto the window rubbers the paint wont stick to them and the grease can be cleaned off when you have finished painting. Billy.
I asked this in another thread, but no answer... What do you lot think about matte black? I'm tempted to paint the 90 in that colour, after seeing a few Range Rovers in MB and they looked the nuts.
al4x
yours is too new to do it Billy, you'll de value it immediately so unless you intend keeping it years I'd not bother. With a newish one it might be worth checking what it would cost to wrap it though
