I went out rough shooting this weekend with a mate of mine and had a very good day in sub-zero conditions. This was the scene from my house before we left:

We flushed in the region of about 20 woodcock but we left some of them because they were either too fast  or not flying well. We ended up with 3 woodcock, 1 pheasant, 4 rabbits and 1 pigeon. My mate pictured in the first shot had a bad day missing quite a few woodcock

Nice day out. Hard to beat shooting in the snow. Great numbers of woodcock about now. Rose 35 the other day. Im taking wed. off to go get a few.

Yeh the last 2 days I've been out I have flushed over 20 birds each time; it means you can pick and choose the really sporting birds.

I shot a particular woodcock at the weekend which I really shouldnt have as it was rather unsporting. It had flushed really strong and caugh me off guard but as I shot it had slowed down an looked liked it was going to land again. It made a good meal this evening though along with a more sporting bird from the same cover.
