jonno 357
What type of decoys do you use ? I use a mixture os shell decoys which are flocked and full bodied with legs which aren't flocked I also use flocked flying decoys on the pigeon magnet I can say the flocked ones are more realistic and I have had better days just using flocked ones Jonno
henry d
Un-flocked and hand painted,by me.Shells and full, until I have enough dead birds to pull them in.
Highlander
Definitely flocked. All my old decoys have been converted and any new ones I buy are flocked or none shine. If you want to gain the best advantage it's another aid. Of course you can use the real thing but they get pretty messy after a while and in summer become a magnet in themselves for flies
Gilderoy
bit of a newbie question here but what's the diference between flocked and un-flocked? Rich
ferretmanabu
unflocke deeks are just plastic decoys with the paintwork. The flocked ones have material on them which looks like feathers ( i think made of nylon). The don't shine as much and are more realistic but hell of a lot more expensive
silvertop
Seventeen year old flexicoy's, and still pulling the birds. Wish I could say the same !!!!!!!
Cranfield
Flocked decoys do not shine when wet and do look realistic. How much that matters, is a subject for debate. There have been some very cheap , shiny plasticky, shell decoys about for years and they tend to have given "basic" decoys a bad name. They are better than gas guns at scaring pigeons. I use flocked and good quality rubber decoys in my pattern and the pigeons seem to find them attractive. If I couldn't afford flocked decoys I would use the rubber ones with confidence. When I was a lad we used glass milk bottles with a ring of white paint round the neck. Then there was the cut out aluminium ones, hand painted.......... They all attracted pigeons. lurcherboy
Flocked ones from UKshootwarehouse and Paul Hart. Definitely better than the old grey drainpipes cut up and painted. LB
