Billy.
still just think of the diesel you are saving with it living on a trailer Funnily enough, I'm not. I got charged for the diesel to trailer it. Did I mention I had a right result about the tax, as it's a light commercial vehicle, so instead of the £435 banding, it's £200 for the year Edited December 23, 2010 by Billy. HDAV
It's not the diff The guy says it's a broken drive flange. Apparently it's completely sheared and has never seen it happen before a diff has given way. All in all, a load cheaper than a new diff Good news, well worth investing in some decent sockets etc, may as well get the MOT done while the flange is being done if you can. Billy.
Fixed, fixed fixed and fixed :yahoo: Drove past garyb on the way home The nearside halfshaft and flange had no teeth on them. Diff was emptied of creamy oil and got a nice fresh top up. Thanks all for your help.

Also, was the old "oil" checked for metal fragments as the diff drain plug is not magnetic. May be wise to run for a week, drain and refill. "Landies...........If they don't leak oil, they're empty" Dave I've already raised the axle breathers up to the engine bay, so it could have been the previous owner. The diff was stripped and checked for bits and I saw the latter part being done. Thanks for the advice, I'll keep an eye on it for now
