stuart21
Hi, Is it worth setting out the decoys when the pigeons and crows are flying to their roosts? The roost is not accesible to me, so I was watching them fly in over my head and then on to the roost. Will the birds decoy on their flight back or is it a pointless task? Thanks Stuart
Fatcatsplat
Would think pointless - If they are flying back to roost, they will already have eaten. Give it a go though - In the words of Dr Pepper, what's the worst that could happen?
chrispti
You may get the odd 1 or 2 drop in for a last minute top-up, but not really worth the time and effort setting up. You would be better off flighting them (getting under the flight line and shooting them)

stuart21
Thanks everyone! How much lead should you give crows, as the ones that I shot at, I missed?
Cosd
Thanks everyone! How much lead should you give crows, as the ones that I shot at, I missed? There is no one size fits all I'm afraid, speed, angle and distance all play a part in how much lead you should give. Why not have a round with an instructor on some clays who can help you before going on the live targets.
The Essex Hunter
Thanks everyone! How much lead should you give crows, as the ones that I shot at, I missed? Just enough.........then TEH
Alycidon
I often used to try some decoys outside a root, no joy whatsoever, birds just came in to the roost and ignored them. Crows are often flying faster than their wing beat suggests and they are often tackled at 40 yards plus, generally they are missed behind, A
