littlecote farmcare
go for a toyota hilux pick up or maybe a land rover 90 or a fourtrack depends if you want a pick up truck or a hard top
tosspot
in my opinion go for a landy 90 for that sort of money only if you like getting your hands dirty, a nice series three for 2k but take some one who knows what they're looking at ****** love dealing in 4x4. personally i'd go for the hilux, if you need a top you can get an ifor williams one cheaply
bobt
Have a look at Discoveries and Range Rovers, for £2000, you will get a good one, a £2k 90 may well be well worn.

dunganick
vauhall frontera, pretty good. considering the things said about the frontera a week ago (do a search), i would suggest most people dont agree with you this should be intresting... i am looking at a 4x4 for a first car, however i am only 17 and my dad is making me get my own insurance, bizarly the early (1970's) landrovers are coming out cheapest on insurance (£1600) and a suzuki SJ (my previous choice due to me thinking the small engine would mean cheap insurance) is about £2200 to insure. so im on the look out for a cheap landie. Wookie
I f you want a cheap 4x4 that's good on insurance, then you have to consider the Panda 4x4. You could pick up a late model Sisley for about 500 notes and, even at your age, get it insured for next to nothing. Five speeds, 1100 CC engine, group 1 on insurance and it goes over fields in snow, mud and general ****. If memory serves, the book reckons that they'll go up a 45 degree slope with two people and luggage in from standing and a 60 degree slope with the same load and a bit of a run-up. I had one for two years and it was a great little car. I even took it down to Cornwall from Ipswich three times. Great fun in snow too. dunganick
Im 17 in november and want a 4x4 for a first car. Vauxhall Brava's have been the cheapest i have seen so far. Dunganick why is your dad making you get your own insurance ? If its anything to do with no claims discount then direct line are now doing a thing where you can build up no claims as a named driver. yeh we are going to look into them, however if me being on his insurance increases his insurance or risks damaging his no claims its cheaper for me to be on my own. (becuase of the cars he has to insure) i wont be buying the SJ becuase of the price of insurance, and a landrover is seriously the cheapest car i can find to insure, makes no sense to me at all.
