12borejimbo
Good brand, not too much to go wrong with, taqke it would be for the .223? Would work well, but I would go for a Schmidt and Bender or a Zeiss. Depends on your budget, but Leupold you wont go wrong atall.
Hornet 6
It's a bottom of the range Leupold, the jury is out on whether or not it is made in the USA or China. I have used and looked through various VX1 scopes, there is better out there for less money. Neil.
njc110381
I've got one on my .22 Hornet. That exact model. I'd say it's about right for the cost, I've used better but those scopes were double the price. You could certainly do a lot worse, although if I was to buy again I would go for the x50 model instead just to get that little bit more light when lamping. kent
I have one that has lived on a 7-08 rem, .243", 17 hmr and worked on all. Optics not on par with top Euro brands or higher range leopold but good enough if you aint paying too much
wacker
I have one on my hmr - i'd give it 10 out of 10. Top quality, you need'nt go for the 50mm objective if the glass is good quality, plus it keeps the scope low over the barrel. I have a simmonds 3.5-10x50 super night view, and in comparison, the leupold wins hands down.
casts_by_fly
personally, I think you can do better for the money. They are good scopes, but last I checked the Bushnell elites and Nikon Buckmasters were in the same price range, both of which I would take over a VX1. I think you can find the Nikon Monarch 3-9 for $199 right now which would be a steal compared to the VX1, even paying shipping and full import. Thanks Rick
Rem223
I would also consider the Redfield since these are essentially VX1's. They are made in the same factory in Oregon according to the rep. I spoke too. I suspect Leupold will drop the VX1 in the future since they are being undercut by the Redfield range. Whilst I agree with Rick that the Bushnell elite range is a good alternative. I am not so impressed with their warranty backup. I have heard some horror stories about people who had problems with them. Whereas I have never heard anyone complain about Leupold.
steve42
Have one on my .243 and love it ,great for lamping and deer stalking IMO great value for money
scotland rifles
can't get on with Leupold eye relief and the vx1 range are the lowest of the low in Leupold build spec, sadly :( even the top spec leupold's don't impress me much, bob. kdubya
got a couple of these, one on my .22rf and the other I have just put on my .243 nice small light scopes that really do work in low light, and do I really need more than 9 mag for eighty yard bunnies or a fox or deer out to 150? I prefare them to my other scopes such as busnell elites, as I do not like scopes that look like a length of soil pipe sat on a gun.
