davidTOZ
Hello, bought last week 2 new boxes of Winchester Hollow Point SUBs. The Olin made stuff. I recognized that the ammo shots a little less accurate and some cartdriges are louder than the others. I am shooting with a SAK silencer. Did somebody had the same problems? Now what to try? How are Remington Subs and CCIs? Regards David
bruno22rf
I,ve posted this same answer a few times before-buy a box of Eley extra subs and if you get one miss-fire or one flyer i will pay for the box-dont mess with anything less. davidTOZ
already bougth a box of Eley. They are pretty decent stuff. Much better than RWS Subs. I liked the Winchester for the biig hollow point. But i now gonna stick with Eley for hunting.

davidTOZ
i am in Germany. I had two boxes bought a couple months ago for rabbit shooting. They shoot well and first of all NO louder ones. The two boxes i got lately are the same lot number but i had a couple flyers and some louder ones. Sk subsonic are also good but prone to ricochet. The Duncan
Does anyone use CCI Velocitors? I bought a box a while back and didn't get on with them as my cz452 likes subs (oddly enough, RWS and Eleys are fine). Anyway no point these sonic rounds sitting in my ammo safe, so any takers? (FOC of course). Naturally a quick FAC look to be sure, as you would expect. Just counted, I've got 30 left. Cheers, Duncan
fruitloop
remmington are pants. had a right problem id be out shootin and take a shot some was ok but the majority didnot seeal in the chamber and receved a face full of burning powder due to loose heads. so contacted the shop and he told me to take them back as he had all of them returnd for the same problem.(good customer service) cci up to yet had no problems

Cheers, Duncan i had a spell of trying a few different rounds and winnies did it for me but what was a surprise was rws dynamic they are a high velocity round i shot 5 and they all grouped in a clover leaf about the size of a penny at 60ish meters was so shocked i kept the target and took it to my local dealer i got them from just to show him colin
davidTOZ
I am sorry i couldnt reply faster. All my post were checked by a moderator. Is this normal. I firstly was very pleased with the winchester. But now! Some of the rounds had a supersonic crack and a couple flyers. Thanks Colin but i live in Germany! Very kind. And, i got already a box of Eleys. They shoot very decent. RWS Subs suck bad. Very expensive (9€ a box) and are not precise out of my modified TOZ 17-01! Bazooka Joe
They shoot well and first of all NO louder ones. The two boxes i got lately are the same lot number but i had a couple flyers and some louder ones. This happened to me a good few years ago, a lot out of the box were over the speed of sound, hence the loud crack. I mentioned it the next time I was down the gunshop, he in turn told the rep. His answer was "out of all the 22 Winchesters that are made, you've bound to get a few over the top" :look: I still use them to this day...better than any Eley (you just pay for the name), I also rate RWS, very accurate, but a bit to pricey to run all the time. The Duncan
Thats odd, here rws were 20% cheaper than Eleys when I last bought a brick.

Yep, mine were checked for a while (still are! ) Hi Colin, if no-one has urgent need of the surplus eleys, I wouldn't mind taking them off your hands and saying hi. I'm not far from Bedford. We could swap unless you don't get on with Velocitors. ATB Duncan Edited January 27, 2011 by The Duncan
Bradders
Recently had vermin added to my FAC and I have been trying various rounds through my 10/22 and 795.... I tried a variety of sub sonics. The winchester's did not group well at all at 50 yards, it was messy 2" group and i'm not that bad a shot.....Tried Eley subs and got this down to just on 1/2 inch. I have some remington subs but not opened the brick up yet as I am very pleased with the Eley. Also tried CCI Stingers out of curiosity, again got good groupings but hell of a crack even with the mod (only to be expected).....I'll give the Remington a go and see what the grouping is like but I suspect I will stick with the Eleys..... Also I had feed/cycling problems with the Winchester, no sign yet of problems with the Eley....

andygreat
My self and a mate bought a brick of winchesters, and after using a few rounds . discoverd some of the hollow points to be filled with wax . must have been a bad batch I guess , after that used eley ever since . and more accurate for my rifle . How are Remington Subs and CCIs? Regards David I didn't get on with the Winchester Subs through my CZ at all, they just weren't accurate enough and I found myself getting some flyers. I use either Remington and Eley now, Eley is slightly more accurate (maybe a 1/4") but the Remingtons are a lot cheaper. remmington are pants. had a right problem id be out shootin and take a shot some was ok but the majority didnot seeal in the chamber and receved a face full of burning powder due to loose heads. so contacted the shop and he told me to take them back as he had all of them returnd for the same problem.(good customer service) cci up to yet had no problems I must have gone through about 500 Remington subs in my CZ and I have yet to have this problem or any other problem. I think you must have just had a bad batch.
jb1
Remmington subs used to be awful, but after using some of my mates last year in my cz I use them all the time now, just as accurate as winchester and a lot better than eley in my rifle.
