  1. One this afternoon on a walk around with the .22. Total 85
  2. I'm in south east cornwall, I use a .243 and .22, not got an open certificate tho but hopefully will next year when I re new, if I can be of any help send me a pm, would not want any payment for helping tho. Had a centerfire 8 years now and know how difficult it can be to get started with mentoring ect
  3. Nice shot, not really into the long range stuff myself but have had a few goes on a mates rpa .243 ai and don't think people realise with the right equipment just how "easy" for want of a better word it is to pull off very accurate shots at very long range. Range it, dial it in nice solid rest dot on the target squeeze trigger. No guess work like some people seem to assume. Personally I prefer to stalk in but don't knock it till you've tried it
  4. Used them years ago and at best they were rubbish, then was forced into using them again last year when that was all my local shop had and haven't used anything else since. They certainly seem to have got their act together now, group just as well as eleys and dare I say look and even smell the same, but cost 6 quid per 100
  5. Nice one, just looked on their website, looks like we are definitely ripped off over here as usual. I'll be buying from them next!
  6. I've been running it in my 2.5 shogun for a few years now with no problems as yet, not dared to push past 60 : 40 diesel to oil yet tho and knock It right back if its cold. No real difference in performance, just change the fuel filter regulary.
  7. There was a post on the stalking directory about this a couple weeks ago, sako quad blown to bits after firing another round, be careful!
  8. Wish they'd hurry up and get to cornwall they look and sound like great fun to me
  9. Remmington subs used to be awful, but after using some of my mates last year in my cz I use them all the time now, just as accurate as winchester and a lot better than eley in my rifle.
  10. I am in A syndicate of 8 guns and 6 of us are left handed, probably know just as many left handed shots as right handed to be honest. I am right handed for writing and most other things but shoot off my left shoulder
  11. Yes perfectly capable at sensible ranges, head shots under 65 yards will drop a fox on the spot, its not the ideal tool for the job, I much prefer my .243 but last year the .22 took 23 foxes and none of them seemed to think the .22 wasn't man enough for them, just got to be sensible and remember It's not a centerfire, keep the ranges sensible and shots precise and you'll be fine
  12. Come on guys let's have a bit of common sense on an open forum, as was mentioned on another thread today, shooters will do more damage to shooting than antis ever will, and this thread is a prime example of it! Why not just agree to disagree and leave it at that, we are all on the same side remember!
  13. What a ridiculous thread this is, woodcock are legal to shoot and a wonderful quarry, and there doesn't seem to be any shortage of them down here in cornwall so I will continue enjoying shooting and eating them. Of course some people will chose not to shoot them and that's up to them, just like I won't shoot a grey partridge down here or hare because we very rarely see them, but have no problems about people shooting them in other regions where they are more plentiful. As for the original posters comment that one day all bird shooting will be banned, well I for one would fear for the countryside if that did ever happen, I can't see his beloved rspb jumping into fill the shoes of the gamekeepers who manage millions of acres of land which Is proven to have avery positive impact on habitat for all manner of mammals and birds not on the quarry list, shooting certainly contributes more to conservation than probably all of the so called conservation charities, businesses ever do. So enjoy your woodcock shooting if you chose to and if you don't like them being shot then its quite simple, don't pull the trigger, but don't preach to others that choose to do so.
  14. I had the same break on my air arms, as mentioned above cascamite and a brass wood screw counter sunk in the pistol grip and is good as new, to be honest you'd be hard pressed now to even tell there was a break, and It's now ten years since I repaired it. Good luck
  15. I guess it's your life! Just hope you don't have any dependants! Copper is softer than lead so cleaning is the same as if for lead - centrefires use brass - hence the extra cleaning & solvents required Think you will find copper is harder than lead and centerfire bullets are copper jacketed
  16. I have a cz varmint .22 and my old man has an anshutz thumbhole. The anshutz is an outstanding rifle is arguably better than the cz BUT it is twice the price and in terms of accuracy there is nothing between them. Both rifles will out shoot 99.9% of the people using them. It all comes down to how much money you have to spend really.
  17. I had that condition for my .243, just had it removed needed a letter from my mentor saying in his opinion i was suitably experienced to use it unsupervised.
  18. FOB choc 32g. Best killing cartridge i have ever used
  19. Been looking at the site for a few days an decided it was time to join. Im 26 from cornwall and enjoy all forms of shooting, currently own a beretta 687 sporter 12g, cz varmit .22rf and a steyr prohunter .243, looking forward to posting on this site in the future.
