pigeon predator
Ok guys need some input off you please, I'm fairly new to pigeon shooting and I'm after a new camo net, just want some input off you as to which ones you use and think work well plus ones that you think i should avoid, also which length is best as the ones I've looked at range from 3 to 7mts long
henry d
Ex NATO and as long as you can afford up to 20ish feet, that way you can have a 5 sided hide with enough room for 2 people and obviously if there is just one then make the hide smaller. chrispti
The stealth net is pretty versatile http://www.ukshootwarehouse.com/shop/PIGEON+DECOYING+EQUIPMENT/Camo+Hide/Camo+Netting+2+Ply+Stealth.html?osCsid=76r1qg5om0nit1fkheat756rg7 Blends in well all year round
Beardo
yeah i like the stealth - it's better if you cut some windows in the black backing so you don't go cross eyed staring through it though
pigeon predator
Do you find the 4mtr is enough tho which is what the stealth net is? I my net is 4mtr but sometimes I'd like it big enough to go behind me too if I'm against a thinish hedge or bush, or am i making my hide too big? Beardo
i use that as the main one, then if i need a backdrop or roof i have some two lightweight single ply die cut plastic camo ones.
pigeon predator
Under what circumstances would you use a roof on your hide mate? Would it be a sunny day to stop it highlighting your face? Or if the birds are coming in to your pattern directly over your hide from behind if your like say set up in a hedge? Beardo
in the middle of a field with no cover - not a full roof, just enough to cover about a third of the hide
pigeon predator
Ok I see, nice 1! Incidentally, do you shoot standing or sitting mate?
Beardo
bit of both, depends on the situation - i shoot better standing though

paul hart
You can get a 5 mts stealth net but not many places have them. Edited February 10, 2011 by paul hart
bakerboy
I agree with everything Nickbeardo has said. Yes I know he is a mod, but he really does know what he is talking about,(and yes that probably make's me creep) bakerboy
Beardo
thanks Bakerboy, but there are a lot of far more experienced and knowledgeable people on here than me, i just learn fast and spend a lot of time on here or with them in the field! miapia221
I use ex army woodland green 14x8 and a small one if i need a high back
Axor
I use Ex Army as above about 7 mtrs with a 5 pole hide as described by John Batley. Here's a short vid that might help, note the V shaped front, it stops the gun catching on the netting and confuses the view of the incoming Pigeons http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kndPpmol2aY
pigeon predator
Thanks axor, looks good mate, I'll give it a try. Where can I get ex army net from mate?
Axor
You can get one here but shop around. Ebay Item number: 310293792996 What I did was lay it out, cut it to the size I needed it and then took of some of the camo (its held on by clips)bits from the bit I did not need and put them on the main section making the camo denser with less holes, it takes a while but its worth the effort. O and don't forget to save a bit for the roof. Edited February 10, 2011 by Axor
HW682
The stealth net is pretty versatile http://www.ukshootwarehouse.com/shop/PIGEON+DECOYING+EQUIPMENT/Camo+Hide/Camo+Netting+2+Ply+Stealth.html?osCsid=76r1qg5om0nit1fkheat756rg7 Blends in well all year round As above. It does blend in very well with most hedges. Also light to carry and compacts down well.
Goldfinger
The old ex army camo,it blends perfectly into woodland and hedge rows, personally I think its useful to have a couple of different camo nets to blend into different situations. henry d
Another useful addition is to get some hessian sacks and cut/tear into ragged strips and thread it into the netting. You can also do it with any vegetation from the surrounding area.
