Dunkield
20 rounds to zero, Christ how far out is it? As for mods you want the lightest one possible on a T3 Lite - a mod is going to wreck the balance anyway why make it worse than you have to. I have an ASE Utra on my .223 and can't imagine ever buying anything else.
Billy.
20 rounds to zero, Christ how far out is it? It's a combination of the awful factory ammo I've got and the mod. I've not experimented enough with ammo yet, but it patterns like a shotgun at the moment
Archie-fox
Hi I have a A-TEC mod on my 22/250 fantastic bit of kit.
al4x
sounds like it has nothing to do with taking the mod off but something a little more fundamental
garyb
I'm sure it can be solved with both time / money and a methodical approach to troubleshooting.
jonesbach
can vouch for gary's old t8(as i now have it)..still no rust to be seen. remove the mod after every outing and spray with a bit of wd40, and the gun gets put away without the mod. Dont have the trouble of losing zero either..?! They dont make anything to last forever...how else would they still be trading.. ! Dunkield
I'm sure it can be solved with both time / money and a methodical approach to troubleshooting. Indeed, I did the same for Hants Rifle's T3 at Bisley, just start with the basics - assuming the person behind it isn't the issue of course

Dickthomas
T8 here, squirt of oil after each use and let air circulate around it, NO loss of zero experienced here.
Billy.
I'll get out with it this weekend. 2 shots mod on, 2 off, 2 back on. I've only got about 10 rounds left, so hopefully I should get rid of them to finally make me buy some dies.

Dunkield
finally make me buy some dies. That's the way, introduce about another million variables
al4x
why not re tap the barrel thread while you're changing all the variables Are there signs the bullet is clipping the mod as it sounds like something iffy is happening

Plenty of dead foxes from that rifle, so it's not that bad. It's got a little bit of room, as it's a 270 through a 308 mod. I'll stick it on the 22-250 when I get it up and running and see if the issue continues. Edited February 18, 2011 by Billy.
Dunkield
For me it is a gun/mod issue - not ammo, I can't see how ammo can make it lose zero, but without seeing it you can only guess

You must remember the issue his rifle/mod had with 55 grain bullets. I'm shooting 130 grain and it's been a while since I changed. I used to shoot 100 grain and I remember favouring that weight. garyb
It's the same mod / rifle combo that never screws down tight IIRC? Ie.. you can keep turning and turning the mod and it never seems to stop - probably a wrong thread combination ?
al4x
oooh either that or the threads are stripped and that as they say is dangerous

Ie.. you can keep turning and turning the mod and it never seems to stop - probably a wrong thread combination ? No, it does screw all the way down and comes to a stop. It was just that as I was zeroing, you decided to check I'd put it on properly and got a 1/4 turn out of the mod before it stopped. ...The quarter turn made the then zeroed rifle shoot 15" to the right  As soon as I'm home, I'm going to get the camera out and you lot can decide if it's ruined. nathanhutchison
i bought a pes t12 yesterday, had it out to zero today and its very quiet. the big downside is that its the equivalent to taping a brick to your barrel as it weighs a pound and a half
Glenshooter
As per title what moderator are you using on your Tikka T3 Lite? TIA I've a T4. I really wanted the lightest reflex possible and (frustratingly) the T4AR does not come with a 14x1 thread that my Tikka T3 came with/already cut. And the T4 mod was the next lightest at circa 450g (vs 400g for the T4AR). A quick spray with WD40 after shooting keeps them going for years apparently and there is some kind of replacement at discount run by Jackson Rifles if they do have a problem.
