shaggy
well!! just had firearms man round to check security and convictions etc and all went ok i think he says 2 weeks to know if im succesfull with s/c the funny thing is that i called wakefield firearms last week to see how things were progressing and they told me my application had gone to horseforth because they deal with my wakefield postcode??? :o so called horseforth last week and got no reply for 2 days but kept on and eventually got through to the f/a officer who said he could do it today at 10 RESULT so just 2 weeks now to wait and see if ive got it ive also just got a mate to give me permision to shoot on his land for rabbits etc so things are looking up hopefully

Browning GTS
We must be lucky down south . my firearms officer also not in uniform, is a shooter. When interviewing my for my s.c Told me how he was brought up on a farm, and his old man`s gun was kept behind the back door. He also goes beating on a local shoot. After about an hour of talking guns and drinking cups of tea said " you are ok to get your ticket it will be with you in about 2 weeks". Had it 1 week later . After about an hour of talking guns and drinking cups of tea said " you are ok to get your ticket it will be with you in about 2 weeks". Had it 1 week later . Mine was like Cloak and Dagger I got 2 rather nice looking young ladies came to my house. I even managed to keep my hands to myself :*) They came straight in and got straight to it. The cert lads the cert Door locks on entry point then window locks. Through the house looking at PIR's etc and to the back door. Check locks again and window locks. Then upstairs into my room (for the window locks unfortunatley ) Than the Bairns room and again locks. Then i showed her the cupboard with the cabinet in. Cupboard door has a one of those coded door locks like in the bank as it was my machine shop at one point and didn't want the laddy playing with the Lathe etc. She looked inside the cabinet looked at the locks and the name on the cabinet etc and that was it. Her exact words were "FINE thats it" I waited 2 weeks with not a word. Eventually the cert arrived and i was well chuffed My Mates was different a 6 foot 3 rugby player of a cop went to his house gave him a 2 hour lecture on guns and safety etc and physically tried to wrench his cabinet from the wall etc?? We live not 800 meters away from each other ?? Go Figure LG

DaveK
You have PAID for the service they provide and they are not providing the service you've paid for. Try writing to the chief constable outlining your concerns and dissatisfaction but be prepared for a longer delay if they play dirty about it. Normally West Yorks are pretty good. They've certainly been reasonable with me and 'er in the main but your situation is rediculous. Any manager worth their salt will clear their in tray before going on leave. shaggy
davek they have had 1 officer leave and another off on sick or so they say it just annoys me that they have such a grand disregard for customer satisfaction just because they are the "law" they think they can pi$$ about when they told me my files had gone to leeds and i called them the firearms man was only too pleased to come and visit asap it just seems that when you get to the firearms department they are too busy or just cant be bothered i had trouble with scotland yard in the begining with my gd1they pi$$ed about for twice as long as they should legaly have done im just so pi$$ed off well what do you do? if i call them and complain does the old boys network fall into place? do i then get to wait even longer or even worse get refused? i have , it has to be said got no faith in the police anyway and this just makes me angry! this is why i wont be calling because at this late stage i dont want to **** things up by opening my big mouth and telling them how **** they are if it was any other service that took over 3 months there would be hell to pay anyway no point harping on about it cos its out of my control and it just gives me heartburn Edited April 2, 2006 by shaggy

markbivvy
Hi Shaggy are you waiting for it signing, or a decision. if its the former. then just go window shoping mate. if its the later, no news is good news, dont panic,i know its **** mate but nothing you or the basc or even god says or do will make it happen any sooner if the mans off. DaveK
Like wot Mr Bivouac said Writing to complain is an option open to you and sometimes works but be prepared for a backlash. They're normally reasonable so if one has gone (and I assume that will be Phil Kent) and another is off sick then I think a bit of give wouldn't go unnoticed. I still think that if the application was sat on the guys desk when he went on holiday is out of order. Dave
