Yorkshire Wildfowler
I was asked by the headmarster a local invalid school to get rid of these geese as they were making a mess and chasing the children which I duly did. They were both taken with head shots 55 yards 22 rimmy. The one on the left weighs 13lb and the one one right 10lb. They were shot under the Health & Safety Act after a week spent trying to freighten them off the school premises

scolopax
I wondered how long it would be before the pictures of geese shot in the breeding season would appear. Not for me I'm afraid.

Guest Mr Pieman
Please explain under which section of any piece of H&S legislation you have justified shooting these geese? PP
markbivvy
From March 1st it will become possible to control Canada geese outside the main shooting season for the purposes stated on the general licence: “for the purpose of preventing the spread of disease and for preventing serious damage to livestock, foodstuffs for livestock, crops, vegetables, fruit, growing timber, fisheries or inland waters” and “for the purpose of preserving public health and safety”. It will not be necessary for individuals to apply for special local licences or to hold copies of the general licences. Anyone shooting listed pest species under general licence must still comply with the relevant terms and conditions. basc web site.
