Piebob
It there is anything I hate more than racists, homophobes, disablists and sexists it is "fatists" You know the ones, they say stuff like "you've got something on your chin" and when you rub your chin they say "not that chin, the other one". They make other jibes about "Greggs" and "pie eating" too I would like to see zero tolerance on fatists - sweaty, tubby people of PW let's unite and create our own anti-fatist cult where drinking lard isnt a crime. Too late. I've accepted my fatist moniker. My only saving grace is that, in my home town, there is another Bob - called Fatbob. At least mine is a little open to interpretation
Mungler
But it was funny. Alf Garnet was the figure of fun, as was Eddie Booth in Love Thy Neighbour. Their racism made them look foolish. People are so thin-skinned nowadays that every comment is taken personally, even if the actual butt of the joke is somebody else. Spot on. Anyone see the documentary on Johnny Speight the bloke who created Alf Garnet? Nah, I didn't think so. Well, the summary was that he created Alf Garnet so as to make it obvious that racists were ridiculous and this was particularly poignant in the relationship between Alf and his black gay home help Winston. I digress....
Thunderbird
A big girl once came up to me after a show and said "I think you're fatist." I said "No, no. I think you're fattest." Jimmy Carr.
Dr W
DR W, re your post - "I find these sort of comments just as offensive as the racist ones, how dare you insinuate that most shooters or that most of PW are racists from a few posts on here." I don't know what post of mine you are reading friend, but I said 'many people on here.' Not 'Most' or 'the majority' or 'all'. Fair enough, I was probably a bit hasty/strong in my response, I just don't like being tarred with the same brush as the small minority making the negative comments on here. Hamster
Surprising the amount of people who still don't get it. Get off the line you Scouse *** I got Alf before watching that documentary and love him to bits anyway. Poking fun does more good than harm as long as we make sure the other guy is laughing with us. I need to get this off my chest: we had our child in my first house, of which I was so proud. It had everything including an aviary the size of a living room. A day or two after his arrival a little girl knocked on our door with a hand knit jumper , it turns out her mum who lived 60 yards opposite and whom we`d never even met, had made it for us and chose lemon as she didn`t know the sex! Now if that doesn`t blow you away, nothing will.
Psyxologos
Is now the time to mention Italian and greek shooters I do everything to avoid being anywhere near them on driven days Out of interest, why is that, Al4x?
al4x
Out of interest, why is that, Al4x? when you've seen them shoot you'll know, no concept of not shooting low birds or into trees where the beaters are coming from. From memory Italy is one of the worst countries for shooting related injuries. (proper shooting not crime related)

From memory Italy is one of the worst countries for shooting related injuries. (proper shooting not crime related) The only incidents I have been involved with, and heard of, (and there are a lot) in my younger years of grouse beating have always involved Italians. Other gun parties I've seen have been Yanks, Belgian, Dutch, French, German, British - all fine. But I've had to dive for cover several times with Italians, and one of the keepers was extremely lucky indeed ata hare shoot, with several pellets across the top of his skull tearing the skin. To my mind, hill hare shoots are inherantly more dangerous than grouse drives, with beaters walking up the hill, rather than across it, towards the guns. (proper shooting not crime related) The Italians are lethal & its not even funny - We have a team of guns come onto Exmoor every Year, and the beaters all want danger money They are clueless and scary. I'll admit that I could loose about 10 stone and still have idiot left wing bike riding guardian readers( apologies to left wing bike riding guardian readers here but i'm trying to paint a picture) calling me morbidly obese, but i could cite countless times that i've been snubbed or "discriminated against" because of my "displacement", for example job interviews -Ive now a rule of thumb that if the interviewer has a cycle helmet on the back of his office door it not even worth contacting the headhunter for feedback! despite being a graduate with 15 years experience in a field that is always crying out for talent! I guess that we all discriminate in all things, and i'm sure on varying grounds and to different levels :- for example 1, i discriminate against gingers- but only to the level where i'd never consider proposing mariage to one again. 2, I discriminate against Italian guns to the level level where i do own one but it was cheap and I would never shoot it myself- its for right handed friends to use ! If you subdivide the popupation down on every feature as said before we would all be in a minority of one. Personally I would hope we are past the point where a chap should get a rejection for a job aplication solely on the colour of his skin but or similar but i do think its silly that calling someone chalky or a poofter is now a "hatecrime"- I can take a jibe or two about pies, having my own gravitational field, or the like and i would expect them to do the same! (proper shooting not crime related) I have not had experiences with Italian shooters, but I take it there must be something about them, if so many people here confirm their demeanour. I have shot many times with Greek people both here as well as in Germany and in Greece and I have to admit I never saw anything alarming. Hamster
I took a really nice young Cypriot out pigeon shooting once but absolutely could not get him to leave the box of 250 shells in the car , he was convinced we`d run out if we only took a few boxes . He got about 30 that day I think, I had a bit of a bumper session around 50+ in a different hide . Mind you I had an easier time of it getting back to the cars. Another time I was out with a London Cypriot looking to find a place to set up the hide when a pheasant errupted from nowhere , I kept shouting no no no, Tony no before finally managing to stop him from shooting it on auto pilot .
