Mike525steel
I was on here a couple of months back asking about the use of 21 gram cartridges. i got some great feed back and on merit of it i ran out to buy a 1000 in fibre wad in order to have a go i was invited to a 100 bird sporting layout at hodnett clay ground in tamworth on thursday of last week and let me tell you there was not target that out ranged them not even the high pheasant, wich was a 40 yard high mini (going like a bat out of hell)and a 40 yard high crosser standard clay (also going like a bat out of hell) it smashed them to pieces and i managed 7 out of 8 on that stand. cheers for the info ill be shooting loads more of these things as i thing they have also helped me better my technique
willy1
Well done, fella, just shows that you don't need heavy loads to do the 'bizz' Last year I was out with 20 others on a pheasant drive,i'd taken my 20 bore with 21gm cartridges and I had the most birds, 11 out of a total of 22 shot. mossy835
some say 21 grams are not good enough for pigeons, iv used them and had some very good kills with them ,some birds way out, they are good carts,
White Rabbit
Hi Mike, What brand did you settle on? I'm a massive fan of 21gm loads. Especially the Hull comp X although I see Express are now cheaper after Hull and Gamebore jacked the prices up again. (I wouldn't entertain Eley lites) I'm sure if people actually patterned them they'd soon match or overtake 28gm sales. Especially after yet another price rise. I've used over two thousand this year shooting against others at our club with 28gm loads and have won my share of comps and converted afew others! I hope they keep making them as going back to an ounce would kill me! WR
motty
On the subject of light loads, my gamedealer told me he had over 400 pigeons in this morning, from a bloke shooting over calabrese yesterday. He had been using 24gm 7 1/2. They obviously do the job.

HDAV
(I wouldn't entertain Eley lites) Why? I have shot all 3 Hull CompX, Eley First and Express HV. Hull can be a bit confetti in fibre Express HV are better in my experience for fibre. Used all 3 in plastic and no issues with any of them. sodit
21 grams LOVE EM I use nothing else. Dont do any better with 28 gram either edit to add following Mind you no chance of getting them in France, over here if you dont shoot 28gram + your a pussy, managed to find somewhere that sells 24gram for more than 28!! So I guess when my stock runs out its back to 28s Edited June 26, 2011 by sodit

WR I use either the hull comp or the lyvale as the lyvale are generally cheaper. the shop i go in though sometimes have a deal on the compx and i have them instead. i generally have to shoot fibre as the clay club i go to wont allow plastic and i must say you do get the odd bbit of confetti with the comp x but its nothing to worry abut if your saving a few quid a slab. i also seem to be converting a few but there is no telling some people and to be honest some people just have too much money to care and generally think that bigger is better ?????? Hamster
i also seem to be converting a few but there is no telling some people and to be honest some people just have too much money to care and generally think that bigger is better ?????? I know it`s highly theoretical but say you had committed a crime and absolutely had to have a charge spat at your nethers from 30 yards , which would you choose, 28 or 21 gram?
