Imperfection
Incase he dont see this thread-message mod Steve B as he has a section 1 Escort and im not sure if he had it converted or bought it like that.
CZ550Kevlar
My Escort came with the smaller spacer in the accessories box, just unscrew the end cap drop the spring and big spacer out then insert small spacer, BEFORE you do it you would need to register it as a section 1 but i`m sure your RFD could do that for nothing. 243ack
Those above must be old 'uns. For the last few years all Hatstands have crimped magazine tubes (no spacers). So to convert, you will need a new tube (two different threads, discernable be serial number), extension tube and spring. All really cheap and fairly easy to fit. 12borejimbo
Same as above, I had one last year and wanted to make it into a section 1 shotgun. But the tube was crimped so had to sell it, now in the stages of buying a 4+1 from the factory and then putting the tube I've got on the end to make it into a 7+1 shotgun! Dammit, i should have bought a couple more and saved them if they started crimping as standard.
willy1
I went to see my favourite RFD,Chris Orasinski this morning with ref to my Escort shotgun, and he has quoted me a total price of £60 to supply and fit a new 5shot magazine,a 2 shot extension, and new spring,he had to check to see which thread was at the receiver end as there are two different threads,so just waiting for the parts to arrive. steve_b_wales
Incase he dont see this thread-message mod Steve B as he has a section 1 Escort and im not sure if he had it converted or bought it like that. I bought mine as a 4+1 then ordered the extra bits to make it an 7+1 shot. Check it out on youtube. Just type 'escort magnum 8 shot' Steve. mosa
mine was a standard 3 shot and for around £30 it was converted by rfd to 8 shot via plastic extension tube etc etc transfered to fac simple
willy1
I've rung edgar Brothers and have got prices for the parts needed. 5 shot magazine £16.99p 2 shot extension £16.99p spring £12.99p a total of £46.97p so my RFD is only charging £13 to do the work for me,i'd do it myself ,but you need a strong grip to unscrew the tube (something I haven't got ) Alan
winchester6500
Hi If you are converting a shotgun from section 2 to section 1 you may be requested to have it re-proofed as the gun has been "modified". You better check this as some people I' ve talk to say you do and some say you don't. Can anyone else comment on this? P.B

P.B i asked my local rfd gunsmiths about making my Remington 1187 to section 1 shotgun and he said it will have to go in to be sent in re proofed etc so i think i will leave as it is and just buy one as i have a slot for one
willy1
If you increase the magazine capacity there will be no need for 're-proofing'.The shotguns integrity has not been compromised. It would be like saying to the owner of a CZ 452 with a STANDARD 5 round magazine if you use a 10 round magazine then it needs 're-proofing', or to the Ruger 10/22 owner with the STANDARD 10 round magazine,if you use a 25 round magazine then that will need 're-proofing'. Both my FEO and RFD have not mentioned 're-proofing'. Alan Edited July 19, 2011 by willy1

cjm
Why do u want a 7+1 can i ask, surely it would only make the gun more heavy and not as nice to 'swing'?
steve_b_wales
I use an 8 shot, and the extra weight can hardly be felt. The extra capacity comes into it's own (for me anyway) when a load of crows come into the decoys all at once.
mr smith
Is there a way to scope these for using slug on a range?
willy1
As Steve says, the extra weight is really NOT felt, and when I have a 1000+ pigeons feeding over new rape seed then it will come into its own. Alan
willy1
Is there a way to scope these for using slug on a range? They DO have a scope rail fitted,so can't see why not. Alan
ziplex
Blimey, i'd like to say i've regularly shot 3 pigeon with 3 shells with my M2 but can only claim the odd left and right....usually missing with the third. How many crows/pigeons can you really (honestly) shoot with 8? Not casting dispersions just genuinely interested

How many crows/pigeons can you really (honestly) shoot with 8? Not casting dispersions just genuinely interested Although I have 8 shots available, I have never (except for trying it out) fired the 8 at any birds. Usually, it's two or three, sometimes four. A few years ago, my 8 shot would have been very handy, when I shot 120 crows/jackdaws in 3 hours. I only had my Lanber O/U and found at times that I could'nt load it quick enough. With an 8 shot, I could have easily added another 50-60 birds to my tally. Steve.
willy1
It seems Steve and I agree on a lot of things,as Steve has said it's not the fact that you COULD fire all 8 shots, just at times there is the possibility of pigeons flying in when you are reloading, and as we all know semis aren't quick to reload.Well, not as quick as i'd like Alan
