Sussex Countryman
Going to get my CZ 452 .22 rimfire barrel shortened and rethreaded from the standard. Would appreciate some ideas of a good length to use vermin shooting out to 100 yards most of the time please. Thanks in advance. willy1
I know it's not a CZ,but, my Ruger 77/22 has a 12and1/2" barrel, and is still very accurate, even up to 100+yards,seems to make very little difference. Alan
remmy1100
16" is just right by time you stick mod on Edited July 17, 2011 by remmy1100
malkiserow
16 inch is a very handy length and good off the door-mirror. Wabbitbosher (off here) is selling one, a very nice .22lr (not cz - better!)with composite stock, 16 inch SS barrel factory threaded, 10 shot mag - an ex-demo one for £200 it's a billy bargain  Edited July 17, 2011 by malkiserow
sixhills 69
I think but don't quote me on this but the minimun is about 14inches. I find my 16inch barrel is fine if your using a mod by a reflex one this will stop adding the extra inches but check the firearms regs for the min but it will effect your volicity. Scully
Chopped mine to 16",but am thinking about taking another 2" off it.So very handy from a vehicle.Accuracy with Win subs is very impressive. You only need one full twist of the bullet head and 10" to burn all the powder,so might even take it down to 12" as long as that doesn't take it below the minimum overall length.Haven't regretted having mine done. Hornet 6
CZ American .22lr, 12 1/2 inches here, works a treat on the bunnies and very handy out the car window. Neil.
Daveo26
Another vote for 16" thats what mine is and its spot on , my mate has the long barrelled one and it literally catches branches when on the sling....
njc110381
I'd cut back to 14-16" I think. Mines 16" but doesn't need to be that long to burn the powder. 12" is the minimum lenght but as SYSS pointed out to me when I had my Ruger done, if you keep it a couple of inches longer you always have the chance of lopping a bit more off and screwcutting again if it's damaged. Take it to 12" and it's scrap if you ding the end of the barrel.
willy1
I should add that IMO 14-16" seems to be the best length to cut to,it's just that my Ruger was already cut at 12.5".Ideal for shooting out of the car. Alan
TaxiDriver
Saw a Ruger 10/22 recently that has a very short (12" possibly) Very Heavy barrel, The guy in shop said it was a target barrel, and very accurate ? I loved the snub nose look of it, very short for out the car window shooting but no screw cut for moderator
Dunkield
I wanted mine cut to 16" but I was advised (by and uber experienced riflesmith) to go to 14". He was right, it is now perfect and if anything even more accurate than it was before.
