Kes
Isnt it a simple bus bar ciruit with a variable switch? Otherwise you can buy one for £20 quid and disassemble it and make a much cheaper version?

Fletcher1234565 You'll struggle to beat that one. By the time you buy the power device, some drive electronics (normally you need a small oscillator with variable duty cycle driving a MOSFET) and enclose it in a box you'll not be far off £20. I bought mine off of ebay - the "magtame" and it is superbly made. I work in the electronics industry but would try to beat the magtame for what it costs! rayo
Sure I read something along the lines of using the windscreen wiper speed control of a scrap car
deny essex
It is possible to use the variable trigger from a dead 12 volt drill with a little fiddling about. Providing the trigger works of corse I did use one for over a year mounted in a plastic box and used a bolt through the box to adjust The trigger for speed. Mike525steel
Fletch, do you have a dimmer switch? Worth a try? Cheers Won't work mate as the windings are set for 240v Try a couple of resistors out of the RS catalogue and work out a simple switch circuit to give yourself two speed settings. V over I times R. Windscreen wiper motors are about 40mamp usually. And if you don't know what I'm on about ......... Just buy one for 20 quid LOL!!!
