Hi bought a 1996 shogun 3.0v6 last week( private sale) everything seemed fine till i used the four wheel drive.Put it in 4h and all lights on super-select stay on but when i put it back into 2H the top lights flash.Think it could be the front diff actuator but not sure.Phoned my mobile mechanic and he said it was to old to go onto his diagnostic computer. Can anyone help please or know any mobile mechanics that specialise in shoguns that are in the Hertfordshire are.Help needed asap

Peter

When my four wheel drive disengages, it takes a while for the lights to go off - and sometimes (very rarely) I even have to slap it into reverse and move back a few foot.

One time, I had to get up on the roof, straddle the bad boy and jiggle until it worked loose.

Yeah they are a a bug*** for it. The connections need to be taken off and cleaned and sprayed with WD40 or alike as they get a bit clogged if its done some serious off road stuff.

As the guys have said...a little bit of reverse usually does it.

Make sure you use the whole 4x4 selection, both high and low of road/in a field at least once a week or they stick a bit.

CAUTION

Don't try and turn around or turn sharp corners when in low and the central diff is locked, it can cause a lot of damage if your on the road.

Off road is ok because it will just spin a little, grass is best.

If you have any problems go onto the Pajero owners club site, they know everything. (P.O.C)

its a common thing with pajeros and shoguns with super select.

what you drop out of 4wd to 2wd and the lights are still flashing you can do one of two things. put into reverse and move a few feet, when putting back to drive the lights will go out. all i do is build the speed up and then take my foot off the accelerator. this works every time for me.

i use to get the OD light flashing as well but i changed the switch on the top of the box and that sorted that out.

pajeros owners club forum is a good place for all information on the shogun and pajero.

My Pajero manual states that the vehicle should always be reversed a short distance when disengaging the 4wd. I know you've fixed the light (and obviously the solenoid) issue but you might want to check the manual anyway as I'm pretty sure you have to reverse to disengage the auto hubs? driving with them engaged will knacker them

yeah thanks for the advice Newsportsshooter. The problem was it was the solenoid was engaging itself as one of the valves was broken. No it engages and disengages as it should.Yeah im a member of that forum there is a amzing mechanic on there who is great with Shoguns his name is mark he has a website mobilemechanic.org awesome guy
