Imperfection
Try your particular forces website because they often have the proper form to print off and fill in. Heres the form for my area.
apache
The North Yorkshire one is better - you can list a number of guns on the same form! http://www.northyorkshire.police.uk/CHttpHandler.ashx?id=1833&p=
Dekers
So you write it onto yours and he writes sold on his ? How do you inform firearms department ? Ring ? Post ? It doesn't matter a jot if he is a mate or not, the process is the same. NOBODY writes anything on the sellers SGC, the seller writes the details on the buyers SGC and you both have 7 days to inform your regions of the transaction, in writing, email seems acceptable in some regions now, but a phone call won't do it! IF you are in different Firearms regions the seller should ideally advise the buyers region direct as well (simply copy the advice to your own region), this seems to be slipping these days, but that is what is meant to happen! cant hit rabbits 123
How old are you chap? If you're 17 or under, like me, you can't legally 'buy' a shotgun. You can aquire one as a gift, and you must state so when informing the police, but you cannot buy one.
MG6065
I'm 16 , so the police department cannot know that you have payed for the gun , it has to be 'gifted' ??
cant hit rabbits 123
Pretty much. I have guns transfered off my dads certificate onto mine a month or two after he bought them from an RFD with my money. You, at 16, cannot purchase a shotgun or shells legally, however, your frined can 'give' you a shotgun and you can give him some petrol money out of kindness, say £700 for a 6 mile drive, if you get my drift. This would be hard to negotiate with a stanger though as you both must inform the police that it was 'gifted' to you. Best stick to an over 18 friend who can also give you shells on a similar arangment. MG6065
Hahaha I understand what your saying I haven't yet got my certificate , I have my meeting this week , my uncle is giving me a single barrel and pump action 12 when I get my cert but I'm planning on being 'gifted' a nice over and under by him , how long should I leave from him buying it from the shop and then transferring it to my certificate ? cant hit rabbits 123
It can be done as soon as the police have recieved the first notice of transfer, eg the sale, but its best to leave it for a few weeks in my opinion. Congratulatons on the pump action, they are incredible fun on the clays and very hand in the field. What sort have you got lined up? Good luck with your interview! OK, I walked straight into that one, but wouldn't it have been better if you gave us the WHOLE story upfront! :o

cant hit rabbits 123
I think he meant missing the sales to under 18s legislation. It also covers paid hire too btw. Dekers, it only occured to me because I roughly guessed his age from previous posts and that bit of legislation also aplies to me but many forget it. Yes, at the age of 16 the answer to the question is a bit different!
