Dr W
'Sold as seen' doesn't actually stand up legally but yes cash is king Edited September 13, 2011 by Dr W
handy4454
Take a small deposit by paypal then the balance in cash on collection,I take the deposit as a commitment from the buyer or when I'm buying I pay a small deposit ( £50 or so otherwise paypal will cane you ) as this shows willing to the seller, have bought and sold vehicles with no problems, would advise you to be cautious of people with little or no feedback as its difficult to gauge their track record, this is why you see ' If you have less than 10 positive feedbacks make contact before bidding' on vehicle ads,it helps to stop dreamers and timewasters. The other obvious thing to remember is the V5,get the paperwork right! Atb handy.

Chris Bb
Paypal deposit then i) cash on collection or ii) electronic bank transfer (virtually immediate) shortly before collection. ii) requires a modicum of trust but I don't really like trotting around with a couple of thousand pounds in my pocket! yankeedoodlepigeon
You could sell it to a nice Nigerian. They give you twice the price you are asking and send a courier to collect it from you..

Vince Green
Cash for sure if you're a seller. Even cash is dodgy believe it or not. Having a large amount of money in the house leaves you liable to having a couple of mean looking blokes turn up on your door with baseball bats an hour later. Or they follow you when you leave the house to go to the bank to pay it in and mug you. Meet the buyer at the bank and pay it in, then hand over the documents and keys. Really cautious people pay the money into the bank and then phone somebody on their mobile who has been waiting up the road in a shop to bring down the documents and keys Edited September 13, 2011 by Vince Green
