I do not understand haw this can happen to a modern car the only way anyone is going to steel my X reg Jeep cherokee is to lift it on to a lorry it has two ignition keys one at home and one with me and unless you have got one of them its not going to start are land rovers that simple to pinch.

A shooting friend of mine had his LR Defender nicked Last year - by luck they put all guns in his mates car next to him -- Never saw it again and no idea how they managed to nick it.

Another mate had a Pajero - got up at 5.00 to go to work and it was gone from outside his house - he recons they had a key - he got it private and thinks they had a spare key- left it 6 months then came for a look and away it went - never saw that again either.

i had a mint mk2 escort rs2000 stolen from a gamefair boot full of the usual exspensive wellies coats etc and gutted was an understaitment theiveing scum fingers crossed but wouldnt hold your breath , but surley an 06 landrover youd need the key to steal 99.9% of cars now have a chipped key and are coded to that car only , and good on you mate giveing them a lift carnt fault ya :good:

When it comes down to it they can come up with all of the computerised stuff to prevent cars being stolen but as long as it is relying on a simple chipped key that is passed from owner to owner there is nothing to stop the key being copied and retained by the last owner or even a mechanic who has had the car to do some work on it in the end no car is really safe and a land rover if striped for parts would be a nice little earner for someone with a place to strip it.
