Shooting Lady
Hi I want to start entering clay pigeon shooting competitions - Although I'm fairly new to shooting I've had a few goes now and don't think I'll completely embarrass myself. I'd like to know more about the general set up of competitions and where may be a good place to start in the Kent area. As I would have no chance of winning I'd like somewhere that isn't expensive. Can anyone help? Many thanks
HDAV
Have a look at the CPSA site for local comps what discipline?
EdSolomons
Get into registered comps as soon as possible. You will learn far more from them and meet some great people along the way. Don't be frightened to ask around and try and team up with either an experienced shot or a likeminded mate. Good luck!
Reefcat
The English Skeet Club is based at Dartford, really friendly bunch, and registered skeet is a good place to start. It will also improve your sporting. Give them a google
Mungler
Skeet is for divorced old men with beards. Go to JJS and shoot their Sunday competition. If you like the whole competition thing you may well then feel inclined to join the CPSA and spend your Sundays 4 hours at a time travelling the Country in search of registered competitions outside of your County (and Essex because there are no registered ESP competitions). 100milesaway
I just travelled down to Southdown from Yorkshire to a shoot, there are some really nice ladies that i know personally that shoot at that ground. You can always shoot birds only until you feel a little more confident.from Auntie. Good luck and welcome.
Barney86
I shot my first registered event today at Dartford (Skeet) - and I'm not old, divorced or bearded either (yet!). If you are interested in Skeet, I'd certainly recommend it, the group is great. It depends if you want registered CPSA comps, or just compete for a prize. There isn't much in the way of regular registered/CPSA sporting around here (North Kent), but most Sunday shoots offer prizes - JJs has trophies, Robin Hood & Detling give away carts. If you are in the CPSA, trawl through their magazines for fixtures. If you aren't, find someone who is, they wont mind giving you their magazines because they are usually rubbish.
