Decoy Question

I have some old pigeon decoys,could i paint them black and use them as crow decoys?

Do you think crows would come in on them?

Any one done this?

my friend done very same thing with his old plastic pigeon shell decoys seems to work fine for him so much so thinking of doing it my self with my old ones curiosly he chose black gloss and stands buy his descision that crows do shine in the sun.

Yep, I sprayed some non flocked ones with matt black paint, not that it looks a particularly matt finish. You could, if you wanted them to double up for both uses, just pull the legs of thick black tights over them. They both work.

Yes it works, as does Phils use of his discarded and laddered tights.

I think Phil would admit to the fishnet tights not working so well though.

Ive done this and seem to work use matt though, as phil says they dont end up so matt

Cheap old plastic pigeon decoys sprayed matt black........ work a treat

just put a stuffed fox or owl out, they'll come into that!

i've just started using pigeons shells sprayed matte black, it certainly gets them intrested i just need some movement in my pattern now to get them to commit a bit more, they come over the woods i shoot quite high on a flightline and plenty slow down and come round for another look but there still a little cautious.

 

i've just ordered 10 flocked decoys which i'm gonna use to bulk up my pattern then remove the shells as i get dead birds. i'm gonna invest in two of them triple motion crow things to get some movement in there too.
