mikado
Hi everyone I'm new to this site and finding it makes excellent reading. As a Brit living in the Irish Republic for the past nine years, I am continually being made to feel envious at the prices you lads and lasses are paying for your hobby. I have decided to sell my unused Marlin 17 hmr VSF, with Bushnell Banner scope and beautiful leather sling(all new)as after three years of ownership I have not used it. So off I went to my local RFD to try and do an exchange for a sxs 12 bore shottie. He said after great reluctance that he would do me a straight swap for a nice English 12 bore hardly used. I am of course a shotgun virgin and was pleased enough with this smart gun that I have never heard of. Harrier Deluxe is the make and after quickly getting my sgc I went to collect it and brought it home to play with. Took it to bits and read the marks Erbi, "Yes" I now know it isn't English it's Spanish. Nice clean gun but I now fully appreciate that I have been ripped off in true Irish fashion. It was marked up at 600 euros so I thought I was getting a good deal. Please dont ridicule me or take the **** in any way as I am still smarting.

mikado
Sorry for moaning lads, I'm old enough to recognise a swindler or I thought I was. Still a lesson well learned. The hard way! Yes that is the same shotgun on your link. Looks nice and I suppose it will do for the time being. Tried it this morning and it kicks like the proverbial mule. Her indoors says that I should take it back and shove it up his ****.

Any chance you bought it in Mayo, came across the same gun a while back and there not great to be honest, much better guns out there for the money. SneakyD
Miss-representing goods is illegal in Ireland, bring it back and demand a refund. If he won't refund seek advice from the National Consumer Agency http://www.nca.ie/ Don't just accept it!

Chr15j
Think the national consumer agency got shut a few weeks ago in budget cuts... Just go with my first option then, if nothing else it would be worth it for the satisfaction. Might be messy though!
mikado
Got myself sorted out with the RFD that I bought my 12 bore off.He thought it was English. Gave me some cash back after I explained that he could find himself in bother. We parted on not so good terms and now know that I should have sold my rifle privately. Still you never finish learning. Thanks to everyone for your support. mikado

barrie0
Nice one Mikado, An RFD should know what he is talking about in the first place. I doubt you will be returning to his shop anyway so I wouldn't be concerned about parting on frosty terms.
Alpha Mule
Fly so-and-so, don't be fooled: he knew exactly what he was doing, both with the sale of the gun to you and buying your rifle.
