Chr15j
More road oriented tyres Egr blanking if relevant If you always have lots of stuff in back, remove if not necessary When up to speed back off accelerator slightly (maintains speed but less fuel) Remap ecu if relevant/possible Drive everywhere in reverse (more aerodynamic ) Just a few options, apologies if any teaching you to suck eggs

mfletch
Found this it may help you. http://www.delicaclub.ru/Files/Pajero_EGR__Modification.pdf The EGR valve recirculates unused exhaust gasses and burns them again but this reduces the good clean air the engine can suck in Edited November 10, 2011 by mfletch

-Mongrel-
Same fix as for the Discovery by the looks of it. Has anyone tried 'chipping' a Shogun/Pajero? Certainly with Discoverys it improves fuel economy and smoothness while also improving performance.
C00KIE
Have look on here, http://www.pocuk.com/forums/, i am a memeber from when i had my Shogun, full of stuff and a brilliant bunch. I have had 2 in the past one with a blanked EGR and one without, didn't make a bit of difference. Run it on veg oil if you can get a cheap enough supply. Smells like a mobile chip shop but cheap to run. Get an LPG conversion. Edited November 11, 2011 by C00KIE
BrowningDJC
My old 2.5 auto used to average nearly 30 mpg, manuals are very low geared so maybe a lighter right foot? But as i said cutting down the fuel pump is definately an option.

ste 2712
Ive also put some different tyres on chunker ones, its just incase ive missed anything on how to run it better, ive been thinking about getting that EGR blanked off if you haven't checked already remove the pipe from the intercooler that goes to the intake manifold have a feel around with your finger if it is thick in black gunk good chance you have an egr problem. i would suggest taking it off and soaking it in brake cleaner overnight clean it up an put it back on and see if its any better before blanking it off. if it is quite thick in gunk i would remove the intake manifold and clean it by hand you will notice a big difference in engine performance. Might be getting better mpg than you think. Or not.

rabbiter
i used to run a pajero mate,2.8 swb auto, was a great runner,i took the egr valve off a couple of times to clean it,then i decided to blank it off altogether, what a difference, especially in performance, the mpg was better but only minimally, worth doing though, only took me 10 minutes,if you need a hand or are unsure of it,just pm me im not that far from you... Might be getting better mpg than you think. Or not. yeh defo a lot bigger than standard so it does under-clock by about 10% so it would have an effect on the miles shown! but lugging the massive tyres defo uses more fuel but its worth it they get places you wouldn't think were possible and leave very little trace over wet field with them being so wide which is just what i need . SPARKIE
Which engine is it? 2.5 or 2.8? Auto or manual? Cut down the fuel pump is one way. dont turn the pump down too much or your idle will drop with it and shake your teeth out also if you turn it down too much it will be very sluggish. when you take it for mot have a look at what the smoke emmisions readings are its 2.5ppm non turbo and 3.0ppm turbo i beleive much more than this and it will smoke badly. also check your air filter make sure its clean. you sound like you have done all you can and blanked of the egr.
