dan-250
As above post, so thats why I stick to the track, at least everyone is going the same way. 60mph is nothing for a bike these days. To many speed cameras, to many bad drivers, too many bad roads, weather theres mud round the corner, pot holes in the road. Diesel. To many things for my liking to go wrong
BlaserF3
You ride a bike, you take your chances and you should probably expect to have a serious accident at some point which is more than likely not going to be your fault but you can't really argue from a coffin. Lost friends and family to motorbike accidents and think it's a mugs game. I have been riding bikes for 46 years now, the last time I slid off was on black ice 45 years ago. I think that modern bikes are too quick for the average rider and that riding in a group can be very dangerous unless you are all of a similar skill level. No arguements there. 0-60 in about 3 seconds is easily attained, if you can keep the nose down. That's F1 level for those of you unaccostomed to the power a bike can chuck out. I have a ZRX1200S, it does 0-60 in 3.2 seconds and will hit 85 in 1st. My bike is a lardy slouch compaired to many that you can buy 'off the shelf'. I have been riding for over 35 years (most of them 'commuting' on a daily basis). I have been off many times, only once being my fault (cold tyres, damp road, big hurry), the rest,,,,,,. I'm boring myself now

After a big off in 2000 Deb insisted no more sports bikes, I've managed to convince her the Buell is a Harley and slow as is the Glide
jacksdad
Got knocked off my last bike in Oct 2008, GPZ900R, sacked the bikes and bought a sports car, loved it but unable to use it in this country with all the pot holes and speed cameras about  Now I've got a Trooper that I'm turning into a 'proper' off roader and thats where I will be doing my fun driving....until it gets banned! Mungler
When younger I had a rice burner but I was like Lazarus with the number of near death experiences I had - but I still kept looking at faster and faster bikes. Everybody knows someone who has had a serious if not fatal bike accident. I know that the only reason I got drawn to bikes was the speed and rush. I packed them in when a neighbour told me I was a selfish **** (with a wife and kids) and hooning about on a bike. I thought he was right. I see lots of commuter bikes going up and down the A12 everyday, commuting and taking it steady. At the weekend I just see the power rangers out and about and going like nutters. I wouldn't berate Pastiebap for his comment - the reason it cuts so deep is because it's true. A few years ago I bought this as part of my mid life crisis: Then whilst going down the A130 I had an epiphany - "what the **** am I doing on this?". It went soon after that. southeastpete
so the OP, im guessing you were stood quiet for 2 mins in the countryside when this biker roared past? Some people might not be able to. Maybe they were late for work, maybe they are in the forces themselves. Maybe they do a massive amount for the poppy appeal and other charities, but were late for work that day...
