ULTRAFIRE RED CREE LED TORCH

Hi,

I have an Ultrafire WF501B 250 lumen torch mounted to my rimmy which is ok for me but has a white light so I use quality street wrappers as filters which cuts down the light a bit.

I have seen that you can get the same torch with a Red 300 lumen cree emitter and just wondered if anyone has one that can give an opinion on them....

Do you actually get a decent 'throw' of light off them?

Torch Link

cheers

Bit off topic but the 250 limen one you have, what sort of ranve is it useable to with white light

On white light you get a good throw, lighting up maybe to 80 yds or so

(I get a good 50yds with a toffee wrapper filter)

i've got a cheap one 'mx power' about 230 lumen and just mounted it to my shotgun i'd say its good for 40-50yrds depending on how dark it is and what other light sources are about, i'll still have my trusty lamp man phil to spot stuff at longer ranges with the tracer max and then use the cree at closer ranges, it's good for shooting paddocks with the .22lr too, i made the mistake of buying cheap naff battery's though so could probably expect better with better battery's and a better torch.

Hi

I have got the torch you listed with the genuine Cree red led fitted. It is really good, very impressive. Loads better than a white torch and a filter, much clearer light.

I have two now. One mounted to the rail of my gun with a pressure switch and the other for my pocket.

Get them from dealextreme, much cheaper than eBay, they are all made in same place so save your money. You can get optional pressure switch cap as well as normal from them as well.

Thanks for that........

You dont happen to have the SKU number for the dealextreme one do you?

I had a look on there and the one I saw had a Phillips Luxeon K2 led.....which is 100 lumens max.

Not sure if this is the one you mean as one review also stated his arrived with a XRC emitter instead of a Luxeon....

cheers

I've also go the red CREE, more than enough light and spread on a .22 rimmy and better than white with a filter as less light is lost. The only problem I had was with the remote pressure switch which is a little cheap and broke. I got mine from deal extreme as well, as part of a complete kit with remote switch and velcro mount, if I can find the SKU number I'll add it later. Its ideal for a cheap and chearful lamp!!

SKU 20333 is the one I think

I have read all of the reviews and it seems that after initial problems with overheating and poor light, the cree emitter has been changed from the phillips K2 to CREE XRC.

I have ordered it now with a pressure switch and mount...

from your comments it seems like it will be plenty bright enough for a bit of after dark stealth rabbit bashing ! :yp:

cheers

I have an ultrafire wf501b also and I was looking at the IR cree bulbs for night vision but can't find out much about the output on them, and you can only get them direct from China - not sure if it's worth the bother.

hat about this one? States its high power and the reviews are good.
