  1. Cheers Dave all good thanks mate. A mate was impressed with the lenses, however troutie only has the lenses at the moment and not the shim and holder so he's struggling. You coming down this way anytime?

  5. Thought id try it and recommended, easier than waiting until I get home and simple to use. Thanks
  6. I know we're good but we aren't mind readers! You tell me how I'm suppose to know whether or not you are a legitimate firearms holder going about your lawful business until such time as I speak to you?? Unlawful shooting as you put it isn't on the list of priorities? You're having a laugh, if you're a legitimate firearms holder poaching then you should lose your ticket, I've no problems with that, poachers are usually thieves as well. You tell the farmer who has had his gear stolen that its not a priority! Rural communities deserve as much of the polices time as the towns with feral drunken louts! As for POACHING ISN'T OF EARTH SHATTERING IMPORTANCE, what about the loses to the farmer, injury to livestock, damage to crops, need I go on!?! Just for your info Jonathan 99% of firearm related calls are attended by unarmed officers, there aren't enough firearm trained officers available to attend every job plus they wouldn't be 'authorised' on initial deployment anyway. Hence they deploy unarmed officers to risk assess the job. If you think the law should change (I don't disagree with you there) then stick your head above the parapet and write to your MP and so something about it!
  7. Whilst this has been discussed before being on both sides of this discussion this is my two penneth worth. Don't call 101 ( the new number for ALL police forces) unless its an area where there have been poachers or issues that make it worthwhile. The comms room don't care and 9 times out of ten you will get a log/cad number but it would be on a generic 'miscellaneous log' for ****. We have to come and visit you if we are called regardless of whether or not you have called in as we have to attend ALL firearms related calls. Until we get there and speak to you we've no idea who you are or what you're up to. You could be a burglar, poacher or a legitimate person going about their lawful business. It is a fact that most officers don't know one end of a firearm to the other or a lot about firearms legislation. Hence some of the issues that you've all experienced. In rural areas any 'plod' worth his or her salt would stop and speak to people especially seeing that rural crime is on the increase. You won't get any complaints from farmers or landowners, especially if we do manage to catch someone up to no good. The majority of us aren't interested in giving you a hard time most are genuinely curious and it comes with the territory, however, the attitude test does exist and yes I do know that it woks both ways. We would much prefer dealing with something that requires a police presence seein that we know that times out of 10 we know its legitimate when the job is deployed. We still HAVE to attend. A lot of officers hold fac/sgc and common sense does happen at times. Yes I have been stopped and spoken to whilst shooting following a call into the control room. I've had my ticket and weapons checked, yes it's inconvenient, yes it is a pain in the **** but whether you agree or not that's the way it will be.
  8. We've found a few down here in mid Cornwall too after not having any for a year or so! Again the wet weather seems to have helped to spread it unfortunately
  9. Farm shooting burglars are jailed - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leicestershire-19727222
  10. Do you want to chase some of the pigeons down to Cornwall, don't know where ours have gone? Good shooting and good bag though!
  11. Protect my bubble. Com Half the price of my contract insurance with vodafone
  12. Brand new Hoppes 9 boresnake case with pull handle and gun cleaning pad Looking for £23 for both posted please. Thanks colin
  13. Taser ticket handed in, Psu, cbrn and medic ticket handed in, arrive on time and leave on time, do what I have to, to the best of my ability and that's it. What the general public forget when they bleat about what a good pension we get is that we pay for it(at the moment 12.5%) going up to 13.7%, get abused, assaulted and everything else that goes with it, as well as the total of 30 years of shifts on our bodies. I don't know anyone else who pays over £300 a month into the pot, so yes it is (was) good but we pay for it.
  14. Mate arrived today!!! Thanks very much
  15. The new shop is being built on the site of the old one and extended out the back. I can't remember when they said it'd be finished. I've got to pick up some more ammo soon I'll ask them then
  16. Daves earlier post sums up one of the main reasons for barrel mounting, it is personal preference, however the torch is so small and light that it doesn't affect the balance of the rifle, there is no light spill on mods and personally that's where I prefer my torch to be.
  17. Barrel mounting. Have a look on evil bay for cheap barrel clamps, I got a couple of these , http://bit.ly/RJtQXf not bad quality depends on how much you want to pay
  18. Cheers mike, I know the name, I'll look him up next time I'm up there.
  19. Kev I think £1 paunched is the best rate I've found down here, local place will give £1.50 but want them oven ready! Btw the shotgun I got from you is awesome, can't hit anything with it though
  20. Thanks for reminding me Tony about the sfq's (stupid fu***ng questions) I forgot about that bit that the call handlers ask! Asking questions that aren't relevant to anything!!!!
  21. Speaking with both my coppers head on and as a shooter if you're going to phone up and notify make sure you're given a log reference number so that if you're visited you can quote it and don't be fobbed off by the operator. Personally I don't bother notifying as I don't have to and we have to attend all firearms logs whether you notify or not, so even if you do call in we'll still have to visit unless one of the comms ops is switched on and sees a log (incident report) saying that someone is shooting in a specific area. You may get a phone call then to ask if you're out shooting in that area and can you hear anyone else. The only people I tell is the local Raf camp as I shoot alongside their boundary fence. I've had loads of calls from them tellin me that other people are out in the area shooting (usually inside the boundary fence) so from a safety point it works and id prefer to be nowhere near the wrong end of an SA80 or an raf police dog!!!!! As for phoning the police it won't change anything and you'll probably be on hold for half an hour... That's a lot of rabbits you could be shooting instead!!!
  22. I know what you mean about elsworthys being pricey, good service though but you do pay over the odds, try Ian hodges at wadebridge as well, fantastic service and good prices too
