the enigma
Does anyone know if SAK mods are calibre specific? The reason I ask is,I was looking at a secondhand air rifle that comes without a mod and I was wondering if I could use the Sak off my hmr? Cheers, David
Coolhead
17 HMR is actually a fraction smaller then .177. There should be enough clearance to cope with that but it might end up clipping the pellet. As a firearm mod is designed for a larger muzzle blast you probably won't get as good a reduction in sound as a proper air gun mod.
yankeedoodlepigeon
I'm sure Sak mod's are .22 so could use anything below Edited December 24, 2011 by yankeedoodlepigeon
Luckyshot
A sak mod is not calibre specific and will be fine for what you require.
tweedledee
could i be nosy and ask what breed of air rifle it is? don`t think sak performs the best on air rifles. think they are all
the enigma
could i be nosy and ask what breed of air rifle it is? don`t think sak performs the best on air rifles. think they are all 22 BSA Hornet .22. I know,it's as about as far from a rapid as you can get,but the price is very tempting.

bullet boy
I've used my SAK mod on both .22LR and .17HMR.
Dekers
It is calibre specific, .22. So, anything up to that in Rimfire or less. They will work best on a .22lr with subs, but I also run one on my .22WMR! Many use them on air rifles, they are fine, but there may well be some mods better suited, commonly airgun mods will contain acoustic wadding, which is fine in airguns but very rarely used for rimfire! bennyblanco
A Weihrauch moderator or similar built for airgun use will be a hell of a lot more effective than a sak but you wont do any harm.
Colster
I tried my FAC AA S400 with it's standard shrouded barrel, a Weirauch and a SAK. There wasn't much worth worrying about between the SAK and WH. I've put a vid of the results on YouTube (may need to wait a few mins before it's publically visible) -
