Fantastic morning and a big thank you...

Had a fantastic morning out this morning so thought I'd post some pictures and say a big thanks to nipper for organising it for us :good: it really rates as one of the best mornings shooting i've had in one of the best settings.

We were out to meet at a well known local loch at 6am, on the boat for 6:45 and were taken out to our "islands" absolutely beautiful as dawn broke and the roar of god knows how many thousand geese was amazing, (the last count on this loch had 18,000 geese! mostly greylag) once on the island a nice cup of coffee and some pre cooked breakfast sausage and a sort out of guns/cartridges.

As the sun was coming up there were geese everywhere and small flights of tufted, mallard, teal and wigeon passing every now and again and you could hear them paddling around about the islands.

With a clear sky it was a very dark morning but wasn't long until it was bright enough to make out what you were shooting at (there are a lot of Swan's, cormorants etc also flying around)

so myself and Mike the other guy in the island hide started picking out birds and had a fantastic time shooting and marking where the birds were/drifted to etc and eventually the boat came back to pick up everyone and the birds around 9:30.

A great mornings shooting and the estimates on hits was pretty much what was picked up, with all the guns showing great restraint and picking good shots and a total of around 39.

Myself and my hide partner had a fantastic 9 ducks and 2 geese shooting 32 bismuth 5's with a side by side 16g and a 12g Ultralight....which we were very happy with considering the snap shooting as the birds flit in and out of the light patches in the sky.

Amazing morning and another BIG BIG thank you to nipper for arranging it all...and congratulations on the last 50grm Duck... ;) a hauntingly beautiful morning and watching the swans and geese gliding around at dawn was fantastic, first time I have ever shot actually on a Loch instead of around it or on a pond and I hope I get to do it again! :good:
