I have a a 10/22 its the synthetic/stainless one.

I swapped the original plasic stock for a standard wood one.

Its still horrible!

So I have decided to make a project out of it.

I intend to have the barrel chopped to 14", the action duracoated in Olive Drap or black, fit a Hogue stock in black.

Im going to do a few bits inside, I have already fitted an auto release and a bolt buffer.

Im thinking of a Tactical solutions trigger housing as the standard one is plastic and a power custom hammer.

Any further recommendations or ideas where to source parts?

I would like a syss receiver but i can't get my head round paying more than what a complete standard guns costs for one!!!

Beats me why people ever bother buying a 10/22, why not just buy all the spares and build a rifle, saves throwing away all those bits!

ATB! :D:D

I've also got a Black Hogue Stock on my 10/22 carbine which is superb!

Fitting a better Trigger Unit is a must IMO as the standard unit is not good enough in my book!I've got the Rimfire Magic Trigger Unit on mine and it's a much nicer unit, smoother let off! This unit also houses a magazine release trigger which again is better than the standard!

I also fitted a Weaver/Picatinny Rail which is not a necessity, but cosmetically is pleasing to the eye.

A rubber Buffer at the back of the action block

is a necessity IMO as it does silence the movement of the slide on firing!

Well I bought a 10/22 because it was fairly cheap and allowed a faster back up shot when rabbiting than my old bolt gun.

Then Iv found out they are not actually that good in standard form.

Mine does ok but with a few small mods could shoot much better.

So then i started looking at SYSS and other websites and discovered all the nice and practical upgrades and now I want an awesome 10/22 not a **** bog standard one.

and i enjoy tinkering with my guns :good: It keeps me off the streets

So thats why :P

Hogue stock is great love mine rimfire magic are a good source of kit for them new barrel is £80 cut down retreaded and crowned to any length you want.

Done need to do anything else in my mind

I thought about taking mine to my local gun smith and letting him do it, How do i go on with the extra barrel does it need putting on my ticket?

Mine is allegedly stainless but it rusts for fun hence the duracoat idea.

Excellent, cheers Steve that what i want to hear, support for the preposed mods

How small are americans??? because both the standard stocks have felt very short in the LOP.

I could send you some pics but don't want to make you jealous!

I put the Hogue stock on mine with a green mountain stainless heavy barrel and it shoots dime size groups at 50 yds with match ammo. I would not recommend this way though as it is barrel heavy for hunting without a bipod. Tactical solutions makes an aluminum outer barrel with a CM liner that takes off a lot of weight and still provides a stiff accurate barrel, looks neat--costs$$$ If you don't have some aptitude for the sort of work you better have someone do your trigger for you. I have done 2 and they are not that much fun to deal with and they still don't impress me.
