BRAD1927
Does anyone have any experience, good or bad, with the Fiocchi PL30 30g #5 cartridges please If they are anything like their clay loads top 1 28g 7.5s good load but really dirty on the barrels. PhilR
I shoot their PL 28gm 6 at pigeons and the 30gm 5s at corvids and pheasants. They are dirty in the barrels but nothing that a quick push through with a cleaning rod can't take care of. They kill well as do their clay loads. Pointer
Yeh, I just finished getting through a 1000 carts. I had no problems with these at all a nice hard hitting cart and it throws a good pattern, especially thru a half choke, I did not find my barrels getting too dirty either. I did have 1 misfire however.
chrispti
Thanks for the replies Think I may get these next instead of the Gamebore clear pigeon (as they are about the same price) for flighting, roosting and decoying Not been overly impressed with the clear pigeons recently
chris t
I've used the PL32g fibre 5s, very dirty (lots of cleaning time after required). But did not get on well with them. Don't forget 5s of these are 4.5 uk shot size I think. Will not be using any fiocchis again. Rios 6s are far better IMHO.
vampire
If they are anything like their clay loads top 1 28g 7.5s good load but really dirty on the barrels. +1 dirtiest cartridge i have ever used and the cheapest, but they do the job have to clean gun twice, when i first used them i cleaned gun as normal and when i took it out of cabinet the next time i thought i had forgotten to clean it just cant get away with pushing the rods through it has to be a full clean
turbo33
I had a slab a year ago and tbh I thought they were the worst shell I'd ever used. As above, as sooty as hell. I usually use Lyavale pigeon specials 30g 6's. The Fiocci's weren't a patch on them. I have my suspicions that the lead is so soft it deformes badly and throws a terrible pattern. I wouldn't have them as a gift!! I have some clear pigeons too and they are a vastly superior shell IMHO. Still think the Lyavale's are hard to beat in cost and performance. mpk
Have you thought about any of the eley carts ? I know that countrywide sell them ? Don't know how they perform ?
chrispti
Thanks again for the replies. Im looking for an all round cartridge for various types of pigeon shooting and some rough/ walked up during the season, but dont want to break the bank, something around the £200 per 1000 mark and preferably in shot size #

Fal
PL30 in a 6 are a great cartridge, they do leave a bit of residue in the barrels but who cares, its nothing worth worrying about quick push through and thats it. I have never really had any need to look for a different cartridge, I use them for Snipe and Pigeon, they knock Pigeons down no problem.
