The Essex Hunter
I went out this afternoon shooting crows on there way back to the woods and this pigeon drifted over, it just goes to show you what food is still around. Also how much a pigeon will stuff in its crop, if you look closely a couple of the acorns were starting to germinate. TEH

tomhw100
Every pigeon I've shot for months has been full of acorns and a little smidgen of rape...there's just so many left...although they must be struggling to get at them at the mo because of the snow! goose basher
we shot 57 last saturday and they had either acorns, ivy berries or maize in them although not many had maize and none had any rape even though it is sown on a number of fields. goosebasher

Catweazle
It's up North, what do you expect? I have never seen so many acorns on the ground as this winter. There are still loads around. The sweet chestnuts were amazing too, under some trees I couldn't see the ground for them.
coyotemaster
Is that why they are called WOOD pigeons??
pigeon controller
Of the pigeons shot recently we've had a mixture of Rape, Ivy Berries, Hawthorns, Beans and Wheat, I would appear that if you "eat to live" you will find food anywhere
