How often do you have a succesful stalk

Our local pro stalker (roe) reckons his clients success rate is 1:3 stalks on does and 1:3.5 stalks on bucks, which is pretty close I would say to my average.

But you can get a long succession of blanks, done ten in a row myself.

This last few months my track record has'nt been great:

: 3 days 6 stalks Perthshire forestry - 2 Red Stags (good trip, saw a lot)

: 1 am stalk locally at end of roe buck season - blank (saw two seperate bucks well in range but both skylined).

: 1 am stalk locally for roe does - blank

: 2 days 4 stalks Dumfries roe does - blank (plenty around but no luck, could have shot a couple of buck kids)

: 2 days 4 stalks Perthshire forestry - blank (bumped two hinds in the dark firts morning as I got into position, only deer I saw)

: 1 day 2 stalks Lincs and Beds respectively - 1 CWD buck (excellent day)

So thats my stalking diary since September, pretty poor really.

But just as you can get a run of blanks you can get a run of successes.....roll on the buck season :good:

I went out for an hour on the bunnies today.

On my way down the hedgeline I put up two munties that have been there for the last two years that I know of, within the same minute I put up a CWD, and half an hour later a dog walker sent a muntie buck to within ten yards of me. Had I been carrying the .223 I would have grassed at least one of them.

I have one shoot that I get 1 in 2, but it is right near to the muntie source (Woburn Abbey) and it is overrun with them, but on all other land it is probably 1 in 4.
