However

They don't drink, they don't do drugs, they can get out of bed in the morning, they have friends all over the country, they don't have eating disorders and they aren't pregnant! The benfits are huge and so are the costs but Hey Ho that's life.

Amen to that old bean, I'm hoping thats the route my daughter will trek down!

if you do decide to buy one at a later date it takes most of he guesswork out of getting a good one.

Ha! I used to work in the motor trade and I thought second-hand car dealers were rouges, I tell you, they have NOTHING on people selling horses!! If you ever think about buying one, either follow Luvbus's advice or for God's sake take someone with you who knows what they're looking at. Even the best still get duped but you'd be like a sardine in a shark tank on your own.

Looks like you are near me in Quorn country!

Saw your post about your daughters injury, wasn't a fall out with the Readyfield recently was it? My daughter scooped someone up recently who knocked her self out and lost a few teeth out hunting. It's a small world somethimes.

we have 3 horses and the wife has been round them for the best part of 20 odd years she has nvqs in equestrion stuff and used to work at ANN HUNTERS show jumping yard riding/exercising thoroughbreds. in the 20 odd years she has been riding she has never broken a bone shes had a few offs but with the correct protection shes never come of bad. my sons now 5 and has 2 ponys and been riding since he was old enought to sit and have on. both compete at shows now for fun and have had multiple trophys and inundated by roset's its a daily job keeping horses and the cost for happiness is a lot but it keeps them out of my hair and i can og shooting or motorcross as much as i like when i like.

The other option you have once your child can ride is to get a part loan horse my wife has a 16yr old girl who has one of ours on loan now she pays £60 a month towards the keep of the horse but in return has it for 3 days a week to ride and look after...mucking out/feeding/riding/ you get the drift. but the wife also gives her lessons and we take her to compete too.

My kids all had horses and we still have horses but they are much bigger now and the cost is outrageous unless you have all your own facilities and even then the cost off the facilities is outrageous if you were local to me you could of come down and had a go on my grandaughter pony foc in the menage which is sand and rubber so if they fall off they will bounce

By the look of where you shoot, it is indeed a small world, we live in the next village along from wymeswold.

And no, it wasn't my daughter that kindly got cleared up by yours, mine took a very awkward fall into some school equipment at the club. bless her.

Nope, private individual built it would you believe. Nice guy, just rents the corner of the field for it.

Dogs Trust wouldn't use "cheap" electricity, only gold plates M & S electricity for the pampered pouchies up there. 7 million quid spent on that for about 150 dogs plus a compound for " those dogs that prefer the company of other dogs to humans" Slavering, neurotic pack of un tameable rejects to you and me. Don't get me on to the Dogs Trust please.

I've never met anyone whose ridden horses and not had many broken bones. Just pass her a loaded shotgun, its safer :)

In the 7 years i rode horses from the age of 6 to 13 i broke 2 fingers and a toe. I usually rode 2 maybe 3 times a week. I broke more bones playing rugby.

Horses are not as dangerous as some people make out, just try them with respect and you'll be fine.

Kevlar. My permission does horse riding lessons FO about £15 per half hour I believe and also 20minute walk outs for £9 my 2 girls go every other weekend on the walk outs and the oldest is soon to start lessons. They are in Hoo, might be a bit far but they are good people and I could put a word in and possibly save you a few quid.

Seems like a good price to me and to be honest if i get piece of mind then it`s worth it, also it`ll probably only be once or twice month at most.
