The last time I swapped them between a CZ American HMR and a Silhouette in .22lr the HMR wouldn't fire, I didn't try the .22lr. The case head is slightly different between the standard and magnum case so I'd assume the bolt recess is too?

ok thanks will have to find a way of marking them to make it easy

I had the same problem. all to often i drove 10 mile to deal with rabbits only to find i had the wrong bolt and it wouldnt fire.

I have engraved the underside of the bolt now. there is a nice flat area that can be seen once bolt is in rifle.

the stupid thing is i have just bought a second Tikka T3 in differant calibre. only differance is case size so i just know im going to put the 6.5x55 bolt in the .222 and not notice until i pull the trigger. new bolt handle i think is needed.lol.

Turn the bolts upside down and hold them next to each other, the difference is obvious then!

LONG Flat, HMR/WMR

SHORT Flat .22lr and what was that other thing..oh yes 17Mk2

They will both fit in each others action but they are unlikely to load/fire the wrong way round!

:good::good:

I have .22lr and 17HMR in cz 452 varmint! Have made that mistake! They will fit into the gun and lock bolt down but won't fire, They do dent the rim but not enough to set charge off! Dangerous!!! I just put a little piece of electrical tape around the bolt handle to identify each! Saves messin around and quick to identlfy! Less messy than engraving which could look terrible unless ur a pro!!
