A go on the black stuff today

I had a call from a farmer yesterday about crows and jacks ripping out his freshly sprouted oats, as they do  . I had been trying to get on this perm for some months, so it was good news to get the call :good:

I contacted my shooting mate, Bluebarrels to come and have a go with me, but unfortunately he was on shift so was unable to join me  .

I arrived at the farm at 07.45 and quickly set up where I was told the crows had been. 5 full bodied to get things started. It was a bit slow, with action, then longish lulls. As soon as I had decked 4 birds, I took the deeks in. The birds had been a little wary to start with, but as soon as it was dead birds only, those that came by fully commited :good:

I packed up at 3.30 with a total of 13 crows 15 jacks. I put a pic of the hide which had a stealth net on the lower half and a JP clearview on the upper section. You can see how well the JP mesh matches the dead bracken at this time of year :good: Also a pic of the damage the corvids were doing to the crop :o

Nice result. :good:

I have been having some big bags on sprouting barley, the rooks have been all over it.

Did you use your stealth net inside out, the black mesh seems to be showing well ?

I wasn't thinking and put the stealth net on the outside which as you can see wasn't a good colour even with the bracken woven into it, its the summer green one. I then put the clearview on the inside. It would have pretty much done on its own with out the stealth, but It helps hide the flask, gun and movement form the front. Usually I put the cv one on first and then use the stealth to trap it against the poles. No matter, the crows didn't seem put off by it :good:
