Beardo
I would photograph and document the scene before taking the skull to be safe 1992 badger act.... 1 Taking, injuring or killing badgers. (1)A person is guilty of an offence if, except as permitted by or under this Act, he wilfully kills, injures or takes, or attempts to kill, injure or take, a badger. (2)If, in any proceedings for an offence under subsection (1) above consisting of attempting to kill, injure or take a badger, there is evidence from which it could reasonably be concluded that at the material time the accused was attempting to kill, injure or take a badger, he shall be presumed to have been attempting to kill, injure or take a badger unless the contrary is shown. (3)A person is guilty of an offence if, except as permitted by or under this Act, he has in his possession or under his control any dead badger or any part of, or anything derived from, a dead badger. (4)A person is not guilty of an offence under subsection (3) above if he shows that— (a)the badger had not been killed, or had been killed otherwise than in contravention of the provisions of this Act or of the M1Badgers Act 1973; or (b)the badger or other thing in his possession or control had been sold (whether to him or any other person) and, at the time of the purchase, the purchaser had had no reason to believe that the badger had been killed in contravention of any of those provisions. steve_b_wales
Don't forget it is illegal to possess a badgers skull (I kid you not) A mate of mine has got two badger cub heads on shields, in his shed. They were given to him back in the 1980's by his friend, who was practicing to be a Taxidermist (now fully qualified) These were taken from genuine road kills. Would he be prosecuted for having these?

unclestuffy
The law states that it is an offence to have a badger skull unless the owner can prove that the badger was legal aquired. Most taxidermists have a log book system that records where it was found or who donated the specimen thus proving the legality of the specimen. You would have to really have upset the law to get the book thrown at you for possessing such items (including article 10 CITIES species - ie birds of prey etc). This log book is considered legal and acceptable documentation as a proof of provinace pm if you wish to have a copy of a standard logbook sheet Regards

njc110381
So are you prepared to do the boiling out work yourself? If so I could hack the head off of the next Fox I shoot and send it to you in a box - wouldn't want to be the one to open it after a couple of days mind, they smell bad enough when they're alive! I was asked for a full fox about two years ago. I got the animal and handed it to the recipent within twenty four hours, very tightly bagged up. I had been driving with the windows down even though it was raining. The guy wondered why I was standing outside my car when we met up as the weather was pretty bad. They smell bad at the best of times, but this thing was rotten by the time it got to him.
